Note to self...
« on: 11 November 2010, 20:58:09 »

Note to self: When pumping a tyre up from almost flat with the electric compressor.. do it with the engine running.

Very nearly stranded myself in the carpark at work (which gets locked at 9.30pm!)  :-[

(Now I get to wait and see if the tyre is flat again in the morning, and whether it'll start again after the 15 mile drive home!)

Whoops. I be a dullard. Just thought I'd amuse you all ;)

aside from flattening your battery, the pump runs faster with the engine running due to the higher voltage from the alternator.

silly boy  ;D ;D

i went into tescos a few weeks ago to pump mine, the compressor was going but it just let the air out, when i told them in the kiosk they said it was broke. only a complete and utter prattt would leave it on and not put a notice on the machine. luckily i didnt let to much out.  >:(

Indeed it does.. I know that, but apparently wasn't engaging brain ;D

In fact, the thought process went something like "Hmm, the compressor is slowing down, that's ... oh hell I'm flattening the battery" *runs around car and yanks cable out of cig lighter*

Fortunately she just about caught and started, though it sounded rather like 'whuuuur whuuuur whuuuur splut whuuur whuur splut whuuur whuuur splut splut bruuummm' ;D

Exact same thing happened to me 4 or 5 years ago at my local Asda.  T'was late, maybe 1 or 2am and staff were short on the ground.  Long story short, the Store Manager was pumping up my tyre with a foot-pump he 'borrowed' from the store shelf in the pissing down rain.

And I got my 20p back  ;D

If there is an award for describing sounds in the written form you have surely won it this year. Outstanding ;D ;D

But once again how did it go :D :D :D

That happened to me at the local Tescos about 5 years ago, before I got my own compressor, let about 10psi out of the tyre, same thing, kiosk said, yes it's broken, don't know how to switch it off >:(
