Not long to go now ....

As has been alluded to in a couple of other threads .. we are going travelling ......

In just over a week we will be using the professional services of OOF member Dave (Taxi Driver) to transport us to Heathrow, from whence we fly to Melbourne [SWTSMBO brother emigrated out there 6 years ago and eldest son is getting married].... daughter coming with us, son joining us out there.

Spend 8 days visiting the family, doing the wedding, and visiting some other friends plus sightseeing. Then drive to Adelaide for 4 days sightseeing. We then dump the hirecar and hotels and pick up a 6 berth campervan... :)

Then 2 weeks doing Great Coast Road, Adelaide – Melbourne - Sydney

Once in Sydney we have 10 days, including Christmas and New Year here

before flying back to be met by Dave at Heathrow .. :)

Hopefully the laptop will work sufficiently well to remain in, sporadic, contact with OOF and post up the odd picture to make you jealous entertain you.

Only downside is missing the OOF christmas party ... but I'll try to hide my dissapointment ...  :)

Just come back from Oz, did the big tour of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Ayers Rock.

Drove part of the Great Ocean Road, seen the 12 Apostles (now only 7)

I took a small netbook and used airport terminals and hotels to stay in touch with friends

Met an old friend who emigrated 37 years ago.

Some lovely views in Sydney by the harbour, if you like heights the bridge walk is good.

Found Australia quite expensive, our exchange rate is not very good since the credit crunch.

I would like to add that I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but blighty for Christmas, Christmas wouldn't be the same unless it was cold and miserable  ;D
