unfortunatly its at a point now where you cant leave your car unlocked for 5 mins let alone have them running to clear windows and warm it up , only a couple of weeks ago a stolen car trying to hide from police slammed my dads drive gates then reversed with the passenger door open , smashing into my cousins saxo .police left my cousin with a crime number and a dented rear 1/4 saying nothing much else they could do ! the offending little tit was caught around the corner arrested and back out by dinner time  >:(

It beats me how many women I see, with their most treasured posessions in the car, on the school run, with ice still all over their windscreens.

steady on. you will be expecting them not to park on the school building entrance steps next.

as for the 20mph limit outside schools from another thread...

with cars parked everywhere the roads like an assault course..impossible if not dangerous at 9am/3.30pm

Make the little buggers walk to school , like we  did all those yrs ago as it never hurt us

Yeah, then they might not all be so obese and protected and lacking in life skills

Oh sorry Aaron i didn't mean to offend you, not everyone of course. I think even in the 13 years since I left school alot more of them are getting lifts for half a mile, the bloody roads are blocked it's ridiculous! I've never seen so many oversized kids!

first bad bit of frost this morn and yes it was bloody cold scraping the windows ready for the school run but..... the amount of people on the roads this morning with just windscreen cleared or a patch cleared on drivers side to see out of gets my back up it takes all of 5 mins to clear them ! i clear ALL  mine even after a night shift when the roads are quiet (6am)  cant believe people wing it by scraping peepholes in the windscreen  :o

I agree: It's symptomatic of the lazy careless streak running through many people today who don't seem aware of anything outside their immediate sphere of influence.

Then, with enforcement sadly lacking - or non existent in many cases, why should they bother?

Totally agree here Z, but I think education is key, before enforcement.

We're all told that we're all demi-gods now and people think they can do whatever the hell they want with no consequences, then when they get held to account they're bloody gobsmacked.

I'm always amazed how many people resort to verbal abuse and violence straight away.

I do agree with that G and to try and rectify it will be an uphill struggle.

It's a clear example of the insular nature of society now as many people seem to have lost the basic skill of face to face communication - preferring instead to use electronic means.

It's perverse in a way, as a society we're communicating more than ever (electronically) but talking less (physically).

Totally agree, even though I'm typing on my keyboard!

Although as far as the uphill struggle is concerned. I think it's a lost cause.

I'm atheist, but due to the so called 'elites' constant attack and undermining of christianity and associated values, attacks on the family institution, too much freedom, too many 'rights', 24 hr drinking, too much expendable income, and what I said earlier, everyone being told their demi-gods, we are in a declining society. Now to some it might sound like I'm sat here lording it up think 'I am better than you', but not at all. There are alot of selfish people around now, who for example would gamble on the amber (because they're in a rush - probably to watch their favourite bloody soap), kill you in the ensuing crash, then swear blind they had the green.

Don't worry - you didn't offend me! If you had, I wouldn't have been taking the p*ss out of myself ;)

While we're on the subject of abject laziness and stupidity (back to the clearing windows) ..

Driving to work today there was between 50 and 250yd visibility, so why don't people turn their headlights on?! Dark colours cars kept 'appearing' from the gloom on roundabouts and out of side roads  ::) Including a Ford Consul in one case..

All 3 of my kids have always walked to school. There have only been a couple of occasions when the weather was so appallingly bad that I relented and provided 'Dad's taxis'.

I would estimate the school is about 1.5 miles away...

That's about how far it was when I was a lad, too - at least for primary school.. and ditto on the walking in all weathers!

Secondary school was a bit further at about 10 miles - so that was by bus.. and I distinctly remember that the school had a policy of no cars being allowed to drop off or pick up!

Yeah, but they don't take all their shoes and handbags, make-up and jewellery on the school run, do they?  ;)

They're not always out of their pyjamas here. ::)

You would have thought, with the number of daft gits who drive around with their fog lights on in all weathers, day and night, and usually one headlight working, sometimes two... ::)

Mind you, I did come up behind someone with some common sense last night. Had his rear fog light on, and as I got close enough to see him clearly, he turned it off. :y
