on now  wtf  weirdest film i ever saw  might be ok after a lot of beer    cant get my head round what its meant to be about

Got it on, sort of watching, very confused.... I know it is a classic but I have never seen it before..... ::)

a bleak, fascist future where gangs of "droogs" - (drugged up thugs) go out and beat up and rape people, then one of them, Alex (malcolm mcdowell), undergoes experimental therapy in prison to rehabilitate him, they give him a drug which makes him ill, then force him to watch violent images and music so he ends up unable to be violent or listen to music as he immediately feels sick....basically  :y

if i remember he comes out, not rehabilitated really, just "programmed" not to be violent and tries to kill himself because hes lost free will, but he cant - because thats a violent act. then i think some of his old gang beat him...then he gets a job and settles down...i think - its been a while - never been one of my favourite films, but interesting none the less  :y

I would say "if memory serves" .. but in this case it seems a tad surreal to say that ....  but the only way to understand Clockwork Orange was to watch it whilst one's body was somewhat full of (mostly) illegal substances ....  and then when you "recovered" you didn't even remember watching it ......  :)

It was the fashionable film to watch at university for a while when completely mullered. Consequently, I can't remember much about it. :-[

But then, it was banned then, IIRC, adding to the appeal. ::)

well im still watching it  very weird  although the beer is making it more watchable :)

Not sure why but this reminds me of another file, can not remember what it is called but set about the same time and about life in a Borstal, ends in a Kid taking his own life.... :(

In a strange way yep, but then it was the way of the day, I went to HMS Ganges at 15 in 1972, it was more cruel than anything on Scum, except the greenhouse scene...Whatever you think... ::) ::)

Some of it was filmed at Brunel Uni, kinda interesting watching when mullered, going 'i recognise that!'

Its not changed since it was filmed either  ;D

Dystopia?......yep.... I've seen it many times now. More than a little dated .......but still very watchable... :y :y
