Pig ban:fear of offending those who arent offended
« on: 16 November 2010, 07:50:32 »

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1329897/Early-Learning-Centre-remove-toy-pig-farm-set-avoid-offending-Muslims.html

yet another ludicrous decision (since overturned) that creates a maelstrom, plays up to stereotypes and makes every right wing nut go - "look! they want us to change everything!!"

when in fact, no one of any faith would or has taken offence  ;D ;D ;D

next week: Tesco to ban all pork  :y

Then they'll lose my custom! Pork is the only meat I'll buy from a supermarket as the chances of it being halal are zero ;D ;D Other meat products come from my local family butchers as they have their own abatour.

The removal of the pig is offending a lot of Muslim people as it makes them look bad.

It is a toy, they don't mind.

Got this from the news comments

precisely - it serves to stoke a fire that isnt there....no muslims care one way or other and to assume otherwise is patronising and fuels more hate amongst the "special" knuckledraggers   >:(

A lot of people seem to be missing the point of the bit highlighted above... The article didn't say they'd been removed at the request of any Muslim, but that they'd been removed (presumably) because some idiot believes everything they see written in the Daily Fail/Sun/etc..

And you know that not one of them will object, how ?
Is there a large Muslim community in Perth ?
My best guess is that the majority wouldnt object, but there is without doubt an element in their midst which would (as they always do) take the opportunity to stir it up and make mischief.
Hoping to advance their agenda by one more small step.

I think they are mainly offended by people acting on their behalf
