V6 Cambelt DVD....
« on: 09 November 2010, 19:03:16 »

Hey guys, I've had a few people tell me to order the DVD because it's VERY informative.... however on the front page of the shop, it says that orders can only be shipped within the UK.

To be honest, the timing belt situation is making me nervous, and I really want to order this DVD so I can get it done. I just bit the bullet and ordered a new timing tool kit so I'll have it later on to use and rent out.

So, can this be shipped to the US, or will I have to buy a used one from a member on here? Hopefully someone can help me!

Thanks!

Naturally, we'd prefer that you ordered from the OOF shop, as it helps fund this site.

We know some people copy and distribute these, we ask they do NOT do that.  Apart from the rights and wrongs - which some people sadly cannot see in this new "me me me" era - remember the OOF shop is the sole funding for OOF (and doesn't cover it, but thats a more in depth subject, and far more complex to go into here).

Cost would be the price (currently £3) plus whatever a 70gram letter is at http://www.royalmail.com

If you want to go down this line, PM me and we will work something out, even if I end up buying on your behalf, and posting, or provide a download location (so the postage would be free, obviously), which is one method we've used before.

Sorry, that was not what I was implying  :-[.  So for that, I will publically apologise if it came across that way.  Though we would prefer people do not give/sell/whatever their ones away either, though that is obviously their decision, having paid for it, thus owning it. We would prefer owners pointed people towards our shop in order to help fund the site :)

We do know some people have copied and distributed it, that was my point, and my beef.

Got the DVD the day before yesterday (Monday).. had a hard time getting it to work with my DVD player... had to switch it to Region 2.

However, it is by far the best instructional DVD I've seen carwise. I like how it shows complete disassembly/assembly.

I never knew the timing belt install was so complicated with the alignment of the marks with the cam sprocket gauge and the idler adjustments.

And to think I was going to attempt it without the DVD AND the kit!

Oh I certainly will... The only thing that makes me nervous about the whole reassembly is when I was doing the valve covers a while back, I found rust on a few cam lobes, as well as a little water (not coolant) in the oil. I'm assuming it was condensation because there is no coolant in it... plus the compression checked in fine.

Glad it arrived OK :y

I must be honest, I thought it wasn't region coded, though will be PAL, not NTSC.  That said, I haven't checked if its region coded.

Its an excellent DVD, filmed and edited by member Robin Hood, and stars our very own Marks DTM Calib :y

Guffer, I just might take you up on that offer... it's possible I may need a few things.

And yes, I'm surprised that all I had to do was switch my DVD player to "English (UK)" and it worked.
