but if the police did nothing, and a bunch of people broke in and gave him a good beating, the Police would be blamed for failing to protect and would probably end up being sued!

Damned if they do, Damned if they don't, at least this option was the cheaper one!

Innocent until PROVEN guilty in a Court of Law.

Therefore entitled to full protection from vigilante thugs, who are just as bad as he is IMHO.

As someone far cleverer than I once said .... "I disagree with everything you say . but will fight to the death to defend your right to say it" (or something close).

It is our ability to step back and allow the RULE OF LAW to make its slow but sure findings that seperates us from the uncivilized bunch that this lot want us to become.

The vigilante attitude of some members of OOF worries me a great deal, one just hopes it is all verbal bravado and never turns into reality.

One cannot "pick and choose" which bits of Law you like or dislike .... you either obey the law or you break it....  :(

I think and hope you are correct Entwood. I for one have thrown my toys out a few times, but with time and hindsight I calm down and nothing comes of what I said.

I wondered what it was I kept stepping on! ;)

Still, I also agree with everything Entwood said.

Problem is, that we have lost the right to say "it" in many cases...  You say something negative about any religion except Christianity and Paganism (including related paths) is illegal and leads to a variety of punishments...  In Paganism, before divination is carried out before the public (Tarot, Reading Tea Leaves, etc) the words "This is for entertainment purposes only" have to be said...  Imagine the outrage should the same have to be said prior to a church service...

Sadly, the "do-good" brigade for cultural diversion will do a very good job in destroying the western civilised world...

Well said! The seem to want to replace our culture with a lesser, more aggressive, and more restrictive one that isn't as enlightened, inclusive and tolerant

defending everybody's right to express their opinion is one thing, but incitement to violence iis another. Bottom line is , if these people really dislike this country so much but are more than happy to reap the benefits that living here entails-not just financial but also the freedom of speech laws that allow them to talk such s*hit-why dont they just f*ck off to an Islamic country of their choice, say Afghanistan, and see how much they like it there? Theres  tolerance and then there's just bloody stupidity  >:(

The point of the original post, IMHO, was not about what/where/when they said/did .. but about the police having to protect them from "retribution"

My point is that it is the Courts who decide their guilt .. not newspapers/Tv/forums/pubs etc etc

They have been  arrested and bailed for their behaviour, they now await the Courts decision. They are therefore , at this moment, in the eyes of the law, innocent .. and have the right to such protection...  just as you or I do.

Whether or not their behaviour is acceptable or not is a totally different subject.

Entwood, this calmly reasoned logic is all well and good but what the hell do I do with this warehouse full of torches and pitchforks eh? I was gonna make a killing (not literally of course)  ;D ;D ;D

I wouldn't worry too much. According to my sources, by 2066 white people will be in the minority in this country.

I have to agree with Entwood about letting the law do its thing.  However, the protection has almost certainly come about due to the Sun's inane stirring.

absolutely disgusting, i think people who do things like that should be exported from the country. My granddad fought in the war and saw some horrific things, its like saying its ok to spit on these soldiers who fought to keep our country safe. and my nephew is out in Afghanistan as we speak, its an absolute disgrace. I dont see why we have to protect scum like that, he chose to do what he did let him take the consequences. Sorry that just made me so damn angry >:( >:(
