Unbelievable.

I saw it on the local news, as you say, just unbelievable! It's to be hoped that his time in gaol is made as hard memorable as possible.  >:(

sadly not a surprise. I could (reluctantly) understand if they found him guilty of intent to harm but not to kill and hence a limited sentence, but he was found guilty of murder? Sure karma will prevail during his time inside as Andy says......

Unfortunately he'll probably end up on the high dependency wing, isolated from the general population and in safety >:( >:(

I still don't agree with the death penalty even if there is no doubt to their guilt. If i did something as despicable as that i'd want to die. Yes certain prisoners are segregated for their own safety but "accidents" do happen. Roy Whiting:- Stabbed in the face, Ian Huntley:- Throat cut.
I for one would happily pay more income tax for such vile specimens to suffer & live in fear of such attacks by the nastiest, hardest, sickest nothing to lose lifers. mThey try to top themselves because they can't handle the situation prison has put them in.
Death is an easy cop out. Keep them living in a world of pain, fear & physical/mental torture. Bread & water, hard labour etc. Let them fester with boils & scabies, just treat them enough to keep them alive so they can continue to suffer, Why should'nt they?

Unfortunately my friend....it does not happen, so top the murdering scum when there is not a shadow of doubt as to their guilt.
Its always a case of not taking their lives, but our society seems to care even less about the innocent lives taken by these low lifes >:(

'Bread & water, hard labour etc. Let them fester with boils & scabies, just treat them enough to keep them alive so they can continue to suffer', No it doesn't happen.. Sadly.
'Keep them living in a world of pain, fear & physical/mental torture'.  Yes it does happen.. Happily.
The dross that are imprisoned for this type of crime find no friends inside, neither inmates or prison officers.
They do live in constant fear of someone, 'getting to them', they know that 'all manner' of stuff may have been done to their food, prisoners on cleaning duty constantly make threats through the locked cell door, etc. etc.
But still they are not made to suffer enough.

Without any doubt Lizzie - it's a waste of time otherwise.

hanging

I would differ there Lizzie as capital punishment isn't a deterrent, in my view.

It may give 'closure' to those victims of the relevant crime, demonstrate state retribution and dispense with the need to pay for the incarceration of the prisoner for the duration of their sentence - but that's removed from the main purpose of the punishment I suppose.
