Well after having one for a few days recently, what can I say?!! ::) ::) ::)

Whilst driving it though I made every effort not to be a typical BMW driver.  I always indicated, I gave way to others, I was totally considerate to other road users, I overtook only when it was completely safe to do so recognising their were other people using the road........................ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

Sorry Del :D :D :D :D ;) ;)

Any experts' review of nearly every BMW will be a good one, and more often than not, will beat their closest rivals. Now that's not crap by any stretch of the imagination

I would prefer the auto. My 530d auto was a fantastic car. I am saving up for one, how long that will take is unknown :'( :'(

In all seriousness I must admit in the absence of any suitable other replacement for the Omega, I will go for a Merc or BMW in the future  ;)

Money no object humm? Then it goes to silly cars! If i win the lottery then yes an M5 please!

But if i just have a few quid to spend, my ideal next car would be either 535d Sport, Monaro VXR if my millage is low or Audi A8 3.0d

Some of the old models had a certain charm.......I'm thinking of the BMW 2002tii.....from the early seventies.

BMW make some excellent cars ....but the new models are too footballers/WAG's....for me...

I thought BMWs were more for Estate agents and assistant junior ("I'm such a mug I topped up my allowance out of my own pocket to drive this POS 1 series")  sales executives? ;D

Oh, no. Estate agents all drive Minis now, of course. A BMW that is more compatible with their feminine side. ::)

BMW motors are far from being rubbish, just look at the investment they make in their R&D, but I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to reviews.  These days I think there is a bit of a sheep mentality, and you'll always end up disagreeing with their comments on some aspects when you come to try a car for yourself.  I remember reading about the Saab 9000 in a mag (this was long before the interweb)and the ABS was described as having a gentle pulse at the pedal.  The hack must have been wearing moon boots, it was like standing on a jack hammer! ;D

Ironically, I do remember one review with the Omega tested against the 5 series.  I think it was a facelift versus the E34, which back then was easily the best in its sector (still a damned good car now), and coming out very well in comparison.

Yeah, look at the money and the fantastic concept cars that Peugot and Citroen build, they never end up on the road though.

As for BMW they dont invest in R+D like they used to.  Our 320 for example had a curved an twisted cover over the speedo/rev counter etx to stop glare from other lighting affecting the driver, cant see them doing that these days.
