Yes, I agree with that.

In terms of the NK action there is of course much history of conflict between it and SK and as you say, SK was (and has been) conducting military exercises in that region of the Yellow Sea.

I would imagine that the conflict (if any at all) would be restricted to the region, in any case China has friendly relations with SK so I can't see them letting things get out of control.

I see this as yet another gambit in Pyongyang's continuous effort to coerce the US and UN into granting concessions in relation to the present level of sanctions placed against it for attempting to push ahead with their nuclear programme.

The uranium enrichment facility - if one exists - is another part of this breast-beating exercise and bears the potential marks of K J Un (Il's son and successor)

Both China and Russia can ill afford a full scale re-opening of the Korean War as both fear, as much as we do in the West, a nuclear exchange taking place.

Indeed today both those nations have made it clear publically that there is a need for calm and a stepping back away from hostilities.  China and Russia are in a completely different place than there were 30 years ago, with no keeness for a nuclear exchange with the West. ;) ;)

I hope so! I haven't got my pit/blast shelter dug yet, no seriously :(

although I decided not to mention that subject,

may be it would be not that bad idea to draw a line on the wall (translation from my language sorry) for future..

after the next elections of usa , war winds can again start .. because the system needs that for the economy, although may sound contradictory.. :-/

Don't forget to also take all your internal doors off their hinges and position in pairs as 'A' frame shelters for one ::) ::) ::) ::)

................and yes that was the official advise for dealing with a nuclear attack during the cold war!! :o :o :-X :-X

Once I get my house finished I'm building a triple garage in the garden with two roller doors and a pit.

I've got it all planned out, I'm doing the work myself got it all costed, quite cheap I enjoy the work.

Anyway, the pit 9" concrete in bottom, concrete blocks all round, aluminium wall ties tied into 9" concrete all round, surrounded by clay, in a valley.

Work on the beasts/survive a nuclear blast. NBC suits, homegrown, wood burner with massive supply of fuel. It's coming :-/

I remember the Cold War years and the following is just a piece from a drama documentary shown by the BBC in 1983 that demonstrated what would happen on the day the bomb(s) dropped on the UK.  At the time it was very real and frightening, and the second half of this documentary demonstrated frighteningly how in the following days / weeks / months it was best not to survive the initial blasts!

It is still chilling in the extreme!! :o :o :o

See my post Geoff on the documentary of 1983 and you will NOT wish to survive the initial blasts. Survival would not be a long term option, and any 'life' salvaged would be a most unpleasant living death :'( :'(

Read Nevil Shute's book   "On The Beach" .......

You will realise the futility of any form of "life expectancy" after a nuclear world war ...

I've got it all planned out though. My house is right next to the river, a mile from the sea. I'd be away in a boat. The N.E. I can't imagine being an important target, yeah sure we'll get fallout. I'd have my crash pack and be away up the river, North Scotland, Orkney Islands, Iceland, who knows?

Well depending on where gets hit, I'll be away. With my respirator and NBC suit. Using my dosemeters to measure radiation. I'll be happy if i can live through it even if I do become a ghost - read about that, it's not very pleasant at all. I'd see myself off in a dignified way depending how serious it was. Wouldn't want an aggressor to finish me.
