What great entertainment for us watchers, but for some of those drivers.............. ::) ::) ::) :D :D :D

Just proves that even in the States roads are not kept clear with grit, which I have personaly witnessed! :D :D :D :D ;)

Right... I know that ABS is supposed to do the work for you in slippery conditions but you'd have thought when it wasn't doing the job some of those drivers would have at least tried to use some cadence braking etc ::) ::)

Assuming ABS is fitted  ;). Our USA hire car in summer 2005 was a new-ish Pontiac Grand Prix. I was amazed that is did not have ABS fitted  :-?.

Does ABS continue to work at 'walking' speeds or below?
I recall reading that there`s a minimum cut-off speed; configured so that one may actually come to a full-halt......for, if ABS carried-on working to zero road speed you`d never be able to stop. ;D

Most of the video clip incidents seemed to be at (oddly) slow speeds, so perhaps ABS (if any were fitted) was of little or no use. :-/

Left Stamford @ 7am heading back to Immingham with a loaded container. A1, 2 lanes, inside was iffy so 30/35mph was enough. Outside was well dodgy. A Passat passed me slowly, moved back to inside lane & held a steady 5mph more than i was doing. No probs. The Passat had got some way ahead when a Focus flew past me, caught up with the Passat then i saw red & white lights spinning everywhere....yeah the Focus lost it & took the innocent Passat with him. By the time i got close they were both out & unhurt but if i'd have been the Passat driver the Focus driver would've had more than his car damaged the winker.
A15 between Lincoln & Scunny. One truck two cars one on it's side, did'nt see what happened, again luckily no one hurt.

A salutary lesson on how might is, perhaps, not always right and that when compared to nature, we exist in a perilous way and at her pleasure.
