.....and (aside from the first SUV) the ABS doesn`t seem to help much at all! ;D

It was, I watched it again...... :y
Did you notice the white car that crashed into the estate car pushing it down the hill, just got to the junction and drive off, not stopping and it was quite a hit.... ::) ::) ::)

I'll be there in a week - I'm rather hoping the ice is gone; Seattle does not cope well with snow & ice (which is daft considering it happens every single year!)..

Look what happened a couple of years ago:

Nobody there fits them .. they do have a point that they get maybe a handful of days that are really cold and icy, the rest of the time it's just... damp.. constantly ;D

Incidentally, I recall a Seattlite telling me that chains are actually prohibited there, other than on emergency vehicles!

The pedestrians seemed mostly to be oblivious to the danger!

I think there is a point in prohibiting the chains.. when used on dry road  it destroys a) road b) vehicle..

in my opinion even the worst snow tire is much better than a summer tire on snow.. and interestingly those people spending money for all kinds of unnecessary stuff but avoids buying something which will save their and others life and precious cars.. it may snow rare.. but one day is too much enough for you to make accident :(

When going down hill on sheet ice always keep your foot as firmly on the brake as you can!  I think that's what the fire appliance driver got wrong.

Those funny-looking objects with legs did do rather well didn't they?  One was actually running! ;D

There is a gentle gradient outside my house.  It replaces tv viewing in the snow!

Don't think any driver bar the bus driver even tried to put in any corrective input. ;D

Just "The man at the dealer told me this was the <brake / accelerator> pedal but it's not doing anything. I must call them when I get home <bump!>". ;D
