Lest we run short of controversy...

Blood pressure pills at the ready, everyone. ;)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1333924/300-Royal-Navy-workers-axed-Poles-30-cheaper.html

Mind you how much truth there is in it is open to question. Could be a Daily Mail wind-up.  ::) ;)

At the end of the day charity should begin at home. What British people don't realise is that whilst we buy everyone elses stuff no matter from how far away, they hardly reciprocate. You try getting a job in Spain, France or Italy as a Brit.

This story illustrates the terrible "put the job out to tender and take the cheapest quote "attitude we Brits have. Look at the health care home helps for example. So a lot of the blame,if not all here lies with the managers and I bet they were British. Sadly as I have said times, it doesn't matter on projects like Trident, Aircraft carriers and so on as regardless of the cost they will get completed and the tax payer foots the huge cost and time overuns. :'(

I'm bound to agree with that V and until this sentiment begins to ring true with our government/s, our native people will continue to be disadvantaged.

I was sacked illegally in june 08 after 20 years of (very dedicated) service. My replacement was a young eastern european chap who was half my age. According to my former workmates he did less than half the work I did, and eventually had to be sacked as the company couldnt keep up with the repair bills for the expensive pieces of machinery that he wrecked on an almost daily basis.
They didnt learn quickly enough though, they got rid of most of the workforce by one means or another and employed cheap eastern european labour instead. The company went bust, but when they started up again they re- employed all of the original workforce who were willing to go back to work for them again.
I will never ever believe a word of this "British workers are lazy and useless" bull.
Once the immigrant workers get established and comfortable they will start demanding to be paid what they are worth, just the same as anyone else does who gets the chance to do so.

most of my shopfitting work is with agencies, most of them have stopped using overseas workers becasue of the amount of comebacks they have had and companies refusing to pay them. those who shite on me get serious abuse if they ask me to work for them again now. stick to the devil you know  :y

most of the workforce at where I work is either Polish, russian or should I say from every corner of the world and to be fair to em most of them are decent.  people. I have spoken to a few and most of them have set their goals of where they want to be in a few yrs time before they return to their homelands for good.

One of them even said your Gov was mad to allow so many of us to come over here at once as it would never of happened in Poland if the table were turned
