Aviation Security

Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the airports:

All we need to do is develop a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have hidden on or in your body.

The explosion will be contained within the sealed booth. This would be a win-win for everyone.

There would be none of this stuff about racial profiling and the device itself would eliminate long  and expensive trials.

This is so simple that it's brilliant.  I can see it now: you're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion.

Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system, "Attention standby passengers we now have a seat available on flight number..."

Wouldn't fancy being the bloke with the Karcher who's got to hose it down afterwards though. ;)

problem is now they carry devices on which on their own are harmless, but when combined make an explosive device.

Its almost inevitable its going to happen again, I can see them banning hand luggage...

I can also see that happening too and the only thing you will be able to take on as hand luggage is your duty free stuff in clear plastic sealed bags

Fly naked, it's the only answer..

Unless of course you've ingested some binary liquids that take a while to react and then kaboom anyway.

'course we could just be sensible rather than take useless reactionary measures and do what Israel does in it's major airport and train the security staff to look at the people rather than their belongings.

Hmm, sounds a reasonable idea on first thought DBug, but I fear any heavy curry eaters would be forced to travel by sea! ;D ;)
