Everybody will have a different view on which is the 'best' console. Everyone has different needs/tastes.

I'll be honest, the Wii gets more use than other consoles in our house, purely because its inclusive fun, not antisocial. Everyone joins in, everyone ends up rolling around the floor laughing.  This is where Nintendo have found their current niche.  If I'm honest, the games that come out most are the Sports and Sports Resort games, and of course Mario Kart.  Mrs TB likes the Wii Fit series, and the dance ones as well.

Our seXBOX actually gets the most use, but can't remember the last time it actually had a game disk inserted - its primary role for me is a MCE extender.  The games it has, to be honest, like the gayStation, are antisocial.  It would appear I have too many friends, too many hobbies, too many commitments and not enough time to sit around like a teenager for hours each night to scratch the surface of these games.

gayStation has nothing I would use. Like the seXBOX360, the games aren't for me. I have an MCE for playing films, and won't buy a Bluray player until Sony actually standardise the format, and to be honest would probably just upgrade the MCE instead.

So for me, I would say the Wii is the 'best' console for games, bizarre as that might sound :o

there is a large body of socially inept, unemployed online gaming obsessives, very easily wound up with no concept of fairplay or perspective......most tho, are casual gamers unwinding for an hour or two at night by driving fast cars, shooting Americans in the face or playing a fat, Italian plumber collecting gold stars - I don't think a hectic social life precludes a bit of downtime?

Oh, and the world record I set on Forza took the sum total of 2hrs.....so if you're awesome you don't need to be obsessive  ;)

True story.

Spun off into a software company now, IIRC - no hardware.  Shame, although the Amiga was always better.. ;D

BJ - you make valid points, though I'm amazed anyone finds an hour or 2 in the evening to wind down...

When I have fired up those (what I call antisocial) games, I get a guilt complex that I should be doing something constructive  :-[

I pretty much gave up that sort of gaming with DOOMII - greeting the milkman before I finished and went to bed ::)

I was nearly suckered back in with Grand Prix 4 on the PC...

To be honest, my son really doesn't use his PS3, his Xbox is on whenever he fancies a game though. He's always said, he just can't get into the games on the PS3, don't know why mind you. Personally and I don't know a lot about consoles I do think the Xbox is better.

Comes down to the games and also what controller layout you are used to.

If you are used to PS2 controller the PS3 feels natural.

As to games exclusives

Xbox360 has Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Forsa as its main franchises.

PS3 has Killzone, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Restistance, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, Rachet & Clank as its main ones.

It really comes down to Halo vs Uncharted at the two main big selling platforming games.

Just for fun Bungie (Halo) and Naughty Dog (UC) are great friends and play online together. ie ND programmers play Halo and Bungie programmers saying they would buy UC2 just for the multiplayer but they already had it.

I have to admit I am an addict for Uncharted 2 and play it most days, nearly level 58.

Finally if you want him to play the PS3 or you to play it, buy the Uncharted series of games, they are as good as they are hyped up to be.

He has uncharted 2, but he says the same thing, very good game, but he can't get into it  :-/

Except for the social life - unwinding - games are brilliant, I need to find out how to get Nurburgring for Arcade.

From 18:00 to 19:00 or late in evening just before bed. And no need to feel guilty it is simply entertainment and unwinding

As good as forsa 3 is, the graphics of the high end cars in GT5 are simply unbeatable.

On occasions, during the replays especially, it's impossible to see it as a game.

Races in the rain are also truely amazing....

If you're seriously in to racing, it doesn't get any better than GT5...gotta be played and seen to be believed.

I'm sure the Xbox could do the same IF it's lucky enough to have good enough software written for it.

BUT....it's no good with them soddin gamepads.

G25/G27 only to do it justice.

I think a gold car and a crApple gayPhone are enough inroads into my feminine side.

gayStation, nah, does nothing I need. My (then) expensive seXBOX was only bought as an mce extender - something the Fony console will never do.

As to having time to play - I think I've spread myself too thinly, with both work and technology stuff - I actively participate in many sites and projects (its called 'giving back' rather than the 'take take take' mentality on many internet users), then there is my brother's stuff, as I look build and maintain his infrastructure, including developing his stock and point of sale software.  Then there is the constant flow of people asking for PC repairs/upgrades - people use me purely because they know I won't bodge, unlike virtually all the shops and 'bedroom boys' you see on the notice boards.
