sorry to hear..  :(

for the last 10 days I'm suffering only pain in the left shoulder and neck and it nearly disabled me.. :(

so I can understand how you really feel..

visit a doc.. have some pain killers for few days and rest.. then try exercising when the pain diminishes abit..

in my case exercise helped ..

When I had these kind of problems the painkillers helped but not much, have you tried the gel instead of pills?

sympathise with you mate as have had a bad back years now, sadly once youve got that weakness seems you'll always have it. When I originally hurt mine, like an idiot I continued to try and work through it , carrying loads etc. At that time they were all talking about specialists and traction and stuff but the real trick is to have only a limited amount of rest and instead concentrate on specific exercises. Still get the odd twinge-especially at this time of year as it gets colder-and, more often than not, this happens not when Im lifting anything heavy but rather doing something quite simple and its just that Ive twisted the wrong way . Like you, am loathe to take pain killers unless absolutely necessary but do find that doing slow and gentle stretching exercises like tai-chi help. Being quite tall doesnt help but then neither does my seeming unability to loose the weight from the   belly area ;D  Anyhow, I know how miserable it can be so hope you feel better soon :y

Everyone is different, but I tend to lay out on the floor when my back is bad.  Partly because I can't move (as the floor isn't that comfy), but mostly I does tend to help mine.

I refrain from pain killers:
a) medication is for poofs
b) last time I popped a couple (when I fell off the bike), I was in a strange, pleasant yet strange, world ;D

I also suffer from back trouble and have done for a fair number of years.  I generally avoid painkillers as, like a number of others, I would rather know what movement is painfull (and thus, counterproductive to healing) rather than mask the feeling and probably do further damage by wrong movement.

Medical opinion is always preferred, I would say, just in case there is some serious underlying condition rather than just a pulled muscle or general discomfort.

Everyone is different, especially as regards getting a comfortable position, but trial and error....   :y
