Author Topic: My Favourite Winter Fuel.....  (Read 1982 times)

My Favourite Winter Fuel.....

no, not for the car, but me!  Cooking now:  A lovely beef stew :D :D :D :D :y :y :y :y

440g of lean diced casserole beef
3 Carrots,
2 Parsnips
2 Potatoes
1 large onion
1 large swede
10 button mushrooms
3 Oxo cubes in 2ltrs of boiling water
large 'pinch' of salt and pepper

Cooked slowly in large stew pot for 4 hours on the hob.  Add dumplings in the last 30 mins. of cooking.

Will last 3 days for one with top up's of tinned chopped tomato and tin of soup.

Yum, yum, yum!! :D :D :D :D

Minced beef with loads of onions, carrots,peas and mushrooms with a good amount of mashed spud with cabbage.... now you would be warming my heart then :) ;D ;D

It reminded me also that I didn't list another ingrediant I always put in as you do........mushrooms! :D :D :D ;)

Had home made Beef stew & dumplings for dinner last night.
Made with  vegetables grown in the the back garden and beef from a local farm - laavlee. :)

It reminded me also that I didn't list another ingrediant I always put in as you do........mushrooms! :D :D :D ;)


Just made a batch up for the freezer with one to be used tonight as a shep pie (with cheese on top ) with home cooked chips..... lovely getting hungery now

Makes all the difference in the world tbh, so much more flavour than veg. or meat from supermarkets. Tastes like food used to when I were a lad. :y :)
