I wish I were brave enough to do things differently. But the truth is I’m just too squeamish about disappointing my children in the short term — even though in the long term I would probably be doing them an enormous favour.

I think the ignorant idiot should wise up and live in the real world. It's just a bloody disgrace that we've allowed our country to get like this.

Her inability to run her day to day life let alone chrimbo without a comfy budget shows a lack of imagination & more so experience but then what do you expect? She's never had to struggle or make the pennies stretch so of course she's lost. Hav'nt got time to bake? My arse. Everyone's got time to bake & most (not all i know) of the gorgeous Nigella's recipies are cheaper, child friendly & more within reach of the rest of us than most TV/Celeb chefs.
I'd like this woman to write again after a year of living on £500 a week intead of £1200. I think we'd see a much more grounded & life experienced individual. Guy.

Only £500 a week!!!
Heavens above, I earn just over HALF that a week, and still manage to pay my way. We have a mortgage, (on a modest 3 bed semi) and two teenage children...
We give them the best we can, and they have been brought up to appreciate everything, including the real value of things....
This stupid woman ought to spend a couple of nights under a cardboard sheet, sleeping in a shop doorway...
THREE homes FFS.... some people don't have ONE...

Poor rich bitch!!! >:(  >:(

she owns 2 houses and yet lives in a rented apartment.........i think i've spotted a saving Einstein  ;D ;D

p.s. her brats sound like hideous, grasping trolls - she's getting what she deserves by spoiling her kids when times were good if you ask me - and they're not exactly that bad now anyway :o

funnily enough its the kind of stomach-churning "poor me" column you'd often see in the Grauniad, one of the many reasons i ceased to buy it  :y

Now come on you lot, where is the fabled OOF Spirit! I reckon we should pass the hat around for this poor unfortunate girl :(
Please give whatever you can, & if you wish to s**t in the hat please make sure it's wrapped in tissue paper first, after all it is nearly crimbo! ;D
