Caught up in X factor fever.
« on: 07 December 2010, 16:37:51 »

Our quiet little village out in the sticks was a lot more noisy and busy than usual today. Matt Cardle, Danni minogue and various TV crews/ press etc. turned up at the village pub.
He calls it his local as he used to sing/ drink regularily there with his mates, and a lot of the locals including the landlord know him well.
Mrs Albs is a fan of his so we went to take a look. Hundreds of people including the local schoolkids were all there in the freezing cold with their banners etc. and all cheered  and shouted when he turned up.
I wonder if the thought crossed his mind that it was better when he used to turn up and have a jam session and a few pints with his mates.
As Ive said many times, I hate Cowell and X factor, but I do think young Matt is a cut above the usual dross on there. I think he would have liked to have been a serious musician, but its probably too late now. He has sold his soul to Simon satan and there is probably no way back from that.
Was surprised just how tiny Danni Minogue is. She stood a few feet from me and she must be under 5 feet tall. Pretty girl though.

In the local, before he was "famous"

I think he has chosen the wrong route to "make it" tbh. It will be a long uphill struggle to build any serious credibility in the future. And he will be tied to Cowell for quite some time afaik.

definitely Albs, but theres a million guys in pubs up and down the country who are pretty good but wont make it, I'm like you - i think it would destroy any credibility as an artist to go down the x-factor route, plus even winning is no guarantee of success unless you're world class - he seems a nice guy with a good voice, but not world class.....like Leona Lewis for example  :y

i think part of the deal is you sign away your soul, integrity, credibility, self-respect, talent, etc when you deal with the devil simon cowell  ;D

Agreed. :y........he was never going to be the next Neil Young for example, but he may never find out how well he could have developed as an artist, now that he is on the conveyor belt.
He differs from Leona Lewis ( and almost anyone else on these programmes) in that he was in a band a year or so ago and writing his own songs. Some of which werent half bad.

LL has genuine credibility because of her talent - no one else whos come through X-Factor before or since comes anywhere near, which leads me to conclude that LL was a fluke, every other year the winner is some nice guy who can sing a bit and will either disappear without trace in a week or so(everyone except Alexandra Burke) or, would disappear without trace were it not for massive ad spend (A Burke) :o  :y

You would need to hook her first though, before perching her in the ideal spot.  Bet that would leave you floundering......  ;D

He could do the X Factor shite for a while and then start doing his own stuff when he knows he's popular enough to put out any old crap and it'll sell anyway  :y

And Danni Minogue? Well I would  :-* :-*
