I got my car back Thursday by the mechanic (friend of the family) as he passed the MOT for me after doing a bit of work, However on friday i noticed a noise coming from the rear brakes as he replaced the rear calipers aswell. he came and got the car, said he would sort it and drop the car off at my moms as he lives round the corner from her and i was going there for sunday lunch.

He dropped the keys off, i said thanks and thought nothing off it.........Thats until i went to the car and found this!!!


My car in my opinion looked trashed







My car is and was MINT inside as many of you all know and his bought it back like this! I Felt sick.

Needless to say i got on the phone to him and he has his excuses ready but i gave him hell about it! It has a few minor grubby marks when it came back the first time which i can handle but this was a joke. He came back with £20 to cover a valet but i told him where to go and ill be attending to the mess he has left!

All this after handing over £200!

I have since been informed by my mother he has dropped £50 round as an apology which i will pocket and clean the car myself!

I agree mate but he has worked on my families cars for the last 10 years or so. hence i never expected it. hes also a good mate of my step father.

Ah but you've only towed my projects, which were already broken, you've not towed my 2.2

on the other hand, an old flatmate of mine worked for his dad at a large Jaguar dealership in Glasgow and apparently the servicing was a joke, but the car was returned fully valeted with a beautiful bouquet of flowers sitting on the passenger seat. never got a complaint, in fact it was all letters saying how wonderfully clean their Jag was and thanks for the flowers (easily paid for by the ridiculous dealership "servicing" costs)

Im going to be giving the car a good clean today. he has done a good job on the car and price was good as it included a £45 trailer to get the car to him but still think he has had his chance and ill be sticking to fellow OOFers from now on.

In fairness to Goldie, she had been garage serviced for so long, that it had a massive number of 'issues'.

I had a stack of receipts for various work being done at various garages, but I think the previous owner had had the wool pulled over his eyes

Its one thing to have an easily missed dirt mark left behind, but the state of that is truely shocking

That`s happened to my Miggy in the past, Dan.....filthy seat/carpets, oily hand-marks everywhere and even some tools and personal items 'taken' from the glove-box and boot.......not to mention the missing wheel centres: 'lost' when they test drove the car without re-installing the fasteners!!!!

It`s sign of the times; many people don`t look after their own stuff these days; let alone, somebody else`s.

On a more practical level: I find that 'Vanish' carpet/upholstery cleaner spray (the aerosol-foam version) is very good for removing oily/grimey soiling from the seats/s-belts and carpets.

Chin-up!.....You`ll soon have her looking a-ok and fit for the road!

One way is to buy a really old Omega to practice on, back in the day when they were worth something, i bought one for £300 off eBay a 98 plate V6 reflection, spent two weeks having a go doing stuff, got my confidence up, did a decent advert for it and sold it few weeks later for £800!  8-)
