....to drop in a home-made cake and some fire-kindling and I very glad I did, for they`d not had water for a few days. :o

I checked around a bit and worked out that an 'ice plug' had formed near the tee-off for an outside tap.....`managed to defrost it and return their water-feed and then lag/insulate the tap`s pipe in such a way as it shouldn`t happen again.

Just wanted to remind everyone, that (like my neighbour) many seniors wont mention hardship or problems, for fear of being a 'bother'.......if you have elder or vulnerable friends/neighbours: please (if you can) spare a minute or two just to call in, even if it`s simply to let them know they`re not alone. ;)

.....a place is waiting for you in heaven Ms Debs.....I'll be booking in at the other place....downstairs.... :y :-* :-*

Seriously, that is excellent comunity spirit, sadly missing from most towns and cities, where the BMW/Audi/Merc/4x4 owners are all 'me me me'

Mig owner & **cough cough**  S4 OWNER HERE  >:( ::)
scuse me, i will give my last, we have an elderly neighbour
& thru summer give her BBQ food & see her everyday &
wave as she sits lookin out her window.
She has our number or will bang on the wall if she ever needs us, no matter what time of day or nite.

Rant over  :-X  ;D

Good on you Debs. You could well have saved more than a pipe. Since lodger Steve has changed jobs he has little time to take his Mum shopping. Jean is a lovely old lady & recently i've been taking her shopping. No longer having a Mrs. Guy i have to go once a week & she phones me when she wants to go. She lives alone in a little bungalow & is thrilled before, during & after the trip. She thinks she's being a burden...my only trouble is if i take my eye off her for a second she's off, she can move when something catches her eye! My Mum's 250 miles away so i've "adopted" Jean.
Older folk have given & continue to give & expect so little in return. Next trip this saturday. Don't tell anyone i've got a caring side...it's a secret!!! Guy. :y

Over a Foot of snow in Cumbernauld - My parents have had a neighbour trying to check on them to see if they need anything - My dad is furious ! - "they've been looking after the "proper elderly" ~80 plus" as he says - mid seventy's
