Just heard on sky news that Chris Huhnes number two (no sniggering at the back) flew back from  the climate conference in Mexico just to vote on the student fees bill and then went straight back to the airport and flew back to Mexico again to join the thousands of other delegates who have flown in to decide on how we should produce less carbon.
You couldnt make it up.

that is ridiculous, I heard him on the radio talking about it and usually what happens is he pairs up with an opposite member who intends to vote the other way and they both agree not to vote thereby cancelling out each other - seems Labour wouldnt play ball...of course he could have found someone in his own party who was voting against, but didnt

Yes BJ, that's where it always falls down although I would suggest that those preaching on the iniquities of long-distance travel in terms of it’s (and other forms of overly used mechanised transport) apparently deleterious effect on the planet, I would have thought that they should be leading by example.

Although the draw of a fully paid-up visit to a holiday resort may perhaps be a temptation too attractive to resist - or - in the case of the said Brother in Christ, a convenient place to be in the event of politically awkward vote being taken at Westminster.
