Interestingly, I get to have a 'go' on Truro on the 27th.

You'll be a real engineer then like Casey Jones. ;D ;D

I am jealous Mark!

What a pleasure that will be on the first engine to (reputedly) reach 100 mph :D :D :D  The open cab is the only issue, especially if running tender first, as I well know, but just make sure they water down the coal dust and wrap up warm! ;D ;D ;D ;)

Have a great day Mark 8-) 8-) 8-)

I am 90% sure its the bottom one Lizzie, so Zok was right, it was the Hogwarts express  ;D

Not sure if i can fully remember, it was a very 'fast' chuff, fact this one went so past so early in the morning suggests it was on-route to do something  :-/

Whats interesting is the one i saw last time (4th December) was not towing a diesel, this one was!

Not towing, can just see red light on last Pullman Car:

I've tweaked the photo a bit in Picassa, its still hard to tell what it is.

...................Now I know some of you will be sniggering away over that last posting, but for us in the steam world those sounds  are very important.

They actually indicate how many cylinders the engine has, and how they are set to maximise performance and pulling power.

And, of late, from my back garden, how much traction is available.  :D

Chuff....Chuff....Chuff....Chuff....ChuffChuffChuffChuffChuff <silence>
<gingerly>Chuff........Chuff.......Chuff....Chuff....ChuffChuffChuffChuffChuff <silence>

Then the droan of the diesel on the back that's probably doing most of the work.

That could well be Tunnie a 4 cylinder engine, which certainly suggests King Edward I 6024 :y

Your photograph, which I previously studied when you first posted it, certainly rules out the A4 Bittern, but that damned illuminated sign is spoiling the engine detail. It still just could be MN 35028 Clan Line ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

EDIT:  There again on even closer inspection the smoke deflectors I thought were visible are NOT!!  Cylinders are also protruding further than on a MN.  All definitely points to the King! ;) ;)

Its really annoying, I wanted to get a night blur shot of trains going by, will have to do it from other side of the building, which has a great few up the Curve towards Ealing. See quite a few interesting sights, got a few shots of the Royal Train & English side of the Orient Express  :)
