i'm not looking for a debate on the existence or not of man made climate change, i'm just looking for some facts.....seems some of you are getting the excuses in early...............interesting......... :o

As a poster above has already stated, mankind hasn't been measuring weather accuratley enough for long enough to gauge whether this weather is extreme or just a regular cycle.

Whilstever data is collected by some camps in a dubious manner to fit in with their own plans and quest for funding, (as in temp stations being located right next to air-con units for example, in order to give false reading of an increase in mean tempratures), and so called 'experts' such as those at the University of East Anglia continue to make false claims, I'll take it all with a pinch of salt and use my own eyes and judgement to decide if the weather is extreme, or (as the case may be) not.

I remember winters and summers like this as a kid. Back then we had four sensible words for "climate change". They were Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter, neatly packaged up into a shorter phrase of "Seasons".

Now that ^^^ is something we don't see or hear much of these days, I believe it used to be called Common Sense! ::) :y
[/highlight]
But in todays educated, progressive, scientifically advanced world  it is now known as  denial/backward looking/ and worst of all, unprogressive.
We must be "progressive" these days. It doesnt matter which direction we are progressing in, as long as we are progressing.
Everything must change. :(

interesting fact 1:

1975: snow in London and sleet in Portsmouth........in June!!  :D

I actually remember that! In fact, I recall there a cricket match that was suspended due to snow. :o :o
That year, of course, preceded the 1976 very hot, dry (drought) summer, for which period I spent mainly at the local swimming pool with a girl from Scandinavia.... Memories, eh? ;)

I saw that movie - were you the "pool cleaner" with the dodgy mustache?  ;D ;D

theres an element of that Albs, we've lost our grounding in common sense to make everything allegedly more efficient/safer/cheaper/quicker when in reality it does the opposite in most cases  ;D

What will be will be.

You, I, everyone on here, in fact everyone else on this silly little planet is just a tiny spec of dust in a universe so vast, great minds believe it has no end.

It doesn't matter what we do, or what we say, we're here for just the blink of an eye.

Even if MMGW is a fact and not an, (as of yet, proved), theory, and even if we do manage to 'fix' it, mankind will continue to do what it has done best for a millenia, and that is destroy itself.

No point losing any sleep over that fact IMO, as there is nothing I can do about it.

I was born, I grew up, I paid my taxes, I retired, I died. It will be the same for each and every one of you.

If I hear one more politician use the "progressive" word......
We are governed by policies derived from asking loaded questions to focus groups imo, politicians these days have never lived outside of the bubble that is politics, so they believe that a focus group will give them the opinions of "the real people". Does anyone know anyone who has ever been a member of a focus group ? me neither.
Hence, the current shambles. :(

Well actually no Aaron as we all will experience much between being born and dying, which will be our test before going through the veil and graduating to the next plain of existence. ;) ;)

I couldn't resist posting this:  ;) ;D

According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event".

"Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said.

The effects of snow-free winter in Britain are already becoming apparent. This year, for the first time ever, Hamleys, Britain's biggest toyshop, had no sledges on display in its Regent Street store. "It was a bit of a first," a spokesperson said.

David Parker, at the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research in Berkshire, says ultimately, British children could have only virtual experience of snow. Via the internet, they might wonder at polar scenes - or eventually "feel" virtual cold.

When did these twits senior researchers make these ill-considered comments? Monday, 20 March 2000

Sadly, I think they still hold their jobs.  ;)   ::)

Yes, for the most part I'm happy to agree with that 6. :y

Although we should really continue to test our collective ability for it is through this determination and desire for knowledge we, as a race, have achieved great things.
