As many know, I'm on a fortnightly rubbish collection here in deepest Northamptonshire (well, its normal rubbish one week, then 'compostable' the next).

As my 'compostable' collection fell on the 28th, they have cancelled that as its a Bank Holiday. No problem, I understand that.


But my normal rubbish was last emptied on 7th December - due to weather, they could not do it yesterday. No problem, I understand the weather conditions have caused delays.  However, what have the useless, retarded, gormless, incompitent office tossers done to rectify this? Sweet FA. They have just cancelled our collection. They are not going to attempt to mop up areas they have missed, or do any rescheduling (as according to the useless girl I spoke to, thats too difficult to plan). My next collect is 4th January. Thats a rather month since the last collection of any description.

Now I live on the edge of town. We get lots of foxes this time of year scavanging for food - worse since the hunting ban, obviously. There are lots of cats on the estate. The wheelie bin is already overflowing with rubbish (pre christmas tidy up in the TB household). Can't fit a rizzla paper in it.  Neighbours in the same boat - wheelie bin lids flapping in the wind, as cannot be closed.

So what words of advice from the local retarded office tossers at the council? "Put your rubbish in a black sack, and keep it inside, so wildlife and pets do not cause a mess".



Is it me? Am I being unreasonable?


I pay these useless breakwits £1800 a year, and the only service I get from them is emptying the bins 26 25 times a year.

My advice TB is to pile all your, and your neighbours, rubbish in the middle of your road and burn it, which will then also defrost the highway the council probably have not cleared!!

its a pain in the arse I know mate,

however load the boot up with the rubbish, take it to ardley tip, call in at fox and hounds for a nice hot meal and a drink, wish clive and kelly merry christmas from me and Ze!!
retire back to chez the boy and put your feet up knowing that you can now bill the council for disposing of your rubbish personally as it was a hygiene risk and health and safety wouldnt like it

Council have already said no to refunds if I do their job. They also suggested I should not leave it at their reception as I planned.

Trouble is, wouldn't get much in the MV6 with its lpg tank, so several 16 miles journeys, plus all the queuing as everyone else in same boat. And I don't want 'dirty' rubbish in my car.  I'd use hers, but that means clearing a snow mound first.


Why the hell can't they prioritise collections, based on last collection. Only answer I got was "Its too difficult", but no further elaboration when quizzed.  I'm guessing its simply because the suits would have to get off their fat arses and actually do some work.

and your weekly (it is weekly cos they come every week but just don't collect your residual waste every week) bin collection probably accounts for a couple of quid a week - if that - from your 'rates'. Social services will get the lion's share.

I've tried that before. "Oi! Mate! That's bin waste" " We don't do bin waste".

They might not, but the pavement outside did.

On a fortnightly schedule my bin was due to be emptied last Friday - it wasn't - I'm now told that it won't be until Dec 31st.

Not that there's much in it all the same.

Business as usual here.... .  We even got our little close gritted by the gritter lorry for the second time in a fortnight.  .

Although if we'd had more snow, and our collections fell on a bank holiday I'm sure it would be a different story.... But credit whet it's due, Reading council been prerty good so far.

Take it to the reception anyway and when they say we can't collect it again.  Tell em' that "I got here to to the reception why can't you drive your vehicles up/down the same road to pick it up then"

And why can't they get some logic into the services, Snow plough clears the road, Gritter follows to help keep it clear, Refuse wagon follows gritter to help clear mess up for residents - seams logical to me
