Not necessarily too late for psychiatric help - depending on the outcome of said help..

If the outcome is that he really is better off getting a sex change then, well, he caused himself some unnecessary pain and risk but he's not ultimately done any irreparable damage.

Of course if the outcome is that he had the wrong motives and/or would have been better off keeping his tackle intact, he has done himself a disservice there.

Either way it's a great shame he didn't get the help he so clearly needed (easy to say that from the outside, of course) before this.

I agree Debs, for a man to be so desperate to be the women he feels to be is very sad indeed.  He should have sought GP help well before getting to that stage! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

What a bloody fool... he could have bleed to death before he sought help for his self inflicted injury..... to think there are some poor sods out there who would just be gratefull of a normal life instead of just an   excistance due to an illness/disability  >:(
