Surely they just need to impose a length limit on the road and it becomes mandatory.
That said it's just another muppet blindly follows satnav to the exclusion of common sense story.

Wrong settings on sat nav.Probably set for shortest route--not really suitable for wagons.

Like the one who drove off the end of a pier.. or the one who turned onto railway tracks instead of a road.. or .. common sense is dead, RIP common sense.

Having driven for donkeys years including 4 years at halfords :-X
well i worked for abother comapny that subbed halfords work, as the halfords drivers were not to keen on going to far :-Xlol
I never went anywhere without me bridge bashers map!!! this shows all bridges in england(uk) any that are under the 16ft limit are marked on the map!! sat navs are a waste of time in a truck no matter what setting you put in, indeed having got me clas 1 in 1975 at age nineteen on the forces, there wasnt any satnav except in the drivers head!! yes there were maps but you had to buy a new one at every town you came to, so  all drivers I know learnt the hard way, by memorising the routes, you soon learned what looks to be a dodgy road and what was ok,
since i left though still have friends who work there and they say halfords is using the cheapest drivers they can find, i.e. a lot of poles and other immigrants, who just barely can speak some english never mind reading it! so they use foriegn satnavs with european maps, which gets them into a lot of situations lke the above!!

I see he got stuck near Beddgelert, I recognise the picture, I was there last year on the bike. Very narrow roads, but also not that many, so should have used old fashioned map!

I can understand this.............the driver who delivered my stepsons bike from there could hardly understand english, let alone speak it!!

Probably lithuanian or polish, couldnt tell really, but seemed to be a bit confused about "Wales", cos i'm in GLOUCESTERSHIRE!!
(although you get to me from the severn bridge, which is in Wales.............)

Have similar problem in my lane which is just wide enough for an Omega, has tight bends & overhanging trees. Hampshire Roads dept asked several times for width/height/unsuitable for HGV signs but they are concerned at the 'unsightlyness' of a sign in a conservation area & unconcerned at the damage the trucks do to the lane/hedges & thatched roofs that border the road :(

There is if I remember a 'length limit' for this bridge in Bedgellert. I used to drive coaches around this area and th 12 metre coach was the biggest that could get over the bridge. The newer longer coaches are too long for the turn.
I always built up the tension on the aproach to the bridge and usually got a cheer when round the corner, all in the name of tips ;)
I still can't understand the driver coming off a decent A road to come down to Beddgellert.

You're not wrong - I thought it was driving down someones driveway when I came to yours! I'd be tempted to come in the MR2 if I ever do bring my guitar down to you - if it wasn't for the fact that I know it wouldn't go up your drive  ;D
