In fairness to Sony, it is quieter, and does have BluRay player...

Well, that's not hard.. the Xbox sounds like a ruddy Dyson! Could never figure out how they had so many 'overheating' issues given that it could probably take off and hover using those fans..
Designed in an era where you made chips (CPUs and GPUs) run as fast as possible, and used big heatsinks and fans to cool to a tolerable level. Remember the Athon XP ;D

True - I had quite a few Athlon's .. my last had the biggest heatsink & fan I've ever seen in my life on it, not to mention 8 case fans  ;D

On the subject of controllers (to reference Martin's post above) - I never had a problem with the PS2 controller and spent many hours playing various games, but the PS3 controller is uncomfortable.

Since the controllers are the same, I can only conclude it's my hands :(

The Xbox controller is chunkier and fits much better, I find.

The PS3 slims are almost silent - even when playing a full 6 core using game.

I suppose I have shortish fingers and they are not that thin, but I have played for a few hours and controller fatigue was never a problem.

Both controllers - gayStation and sexbox - make my thumbs ache after about 30mins of 'giving it some' ;D.  Probably another reason I rarely play those games, aside from I wouldn't have the time to do so.

Kinect appeals to me, as I can see friends/family having a go for half an hour after a visit to The Red Lion.  But then, we have the Wii, which serves the same purpose.

I'd say stick with it as the only decent Kinnect game appears to be a dancing game.

Do you like dancing Jaime?

The best Wii game I have seen is Super Mario Galaxy and I think the first is better than the second. Mario Cart not really much better than the SNES apart from online and more tracks. A lot of Wii games are to be honest disappointing.

I think that shows our different attitudes to gaming - I love playing socially, and the likes of Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are exceptionally good at *anyone* being able to pick up the controller, play (as a group) for 20mins, then go out down the pub.

Like the other consoles, there are some games I'd class as dross, but others may like them.

Mario Kart is similar to previous Nintendo console versions, but enhanced with each iteration. Its certainly not a simulation, but is a good fun game - again, easy for anyone to pick up and play. In fact, our very own Official Pikey, Auto Addict, is joining in on Wednesday's little session.

New Super Mario Bros is very good, but I still think platform games peaked with Super Mario World on the SNES...

The game that comes with the Kinect looks like a giggle. Can't see me going mad on XBOX games TBH.

I have few friends here - managed a girl friend (now wife) and that was enough. Both of us are only children and quite solitary.

I game for escapism and relaxation.

Can't be bothered to check if I've replied already...

...I don't dress up in lady's clothes, thus have no need for a gayStation.  I have other interests...  ...you know, those more suited to post-puberty adults :P
