Free Ambulance Any One
« on: 15 January 2011, 19:25:36 »

I just got back from the fields with Mutley & on my way up the estate there was an ambulance blocking the road. As i got closer the engine was running & no one was in it, i know there wasn't any one in it, because i could see the paramedics in the front room of a house.
Is this common practice :-/ If so it's a bloody stupid idea :( >:(

Obviously not common practice but considering the amazing job that paramedics do I'm sure that you can forgive them.

If I saw that I would have gone and told the paramedics before somebody stole the thing or some miserable old Git rang up and reported them... :y

it is common practise well it was when i worked for the l.a.s...if you was to get in and touch any of the pedals or even open the doors without transponder present it would cut out...need to keep it running as everything on the back is run by battery  :y

The police use a system called run lock, you can remove the keys leaving all lights on etc touch the throttle/brake pedal/hand brake and the car will cut out if some one tries to move it etc

Avon and Somerset ambulances also have a pressure sensor under the seat, and some also have auto gear select switches, select drive and it dies...........only a hidden switch disables it.

The runlock system is quite good and can work well.  Release the handbrake or depress the clutch and the engine stops.

Until the Officer with the keys in their pocket goes off somewhere else in another vehicle with them.....   That can be fun   ::)
