I have 2 Apexis IP cameras, I need help. This may be hard to explain but i'll try.

I had one cam to begin with, I set up no problems at all. Manual IP and port 80. Viewed through iphone app and any browser via the free manufacturer DDNS. (http://XXXXaipcam.com)

The problem started when I bought a second apexis camera. The instructions say I need to use the same IP addresses and a different port. But when I do that and set it port 81, I struggle to access either camera, they just seem to conflict with each other.

Each camera has its own DDNS name but when I add them into the iphone app both addresses just see one camera twice.

If I set them on different IP's and the same port all seems well on the browser front but not in server push mode or iphone

I can't get the iphone to see the 2 different cameras at the same time.

All ports on router & firewall are sorted, well to me they look ok.


I am so confused right now, I even just signed up to dyndns.com but no matter what settings I try I get nothing.

Any advice anyone has would be much appreciated.

Can the router deal with it? Are the cameras actually keeping off the ports it shouldn't use (Axis aren't exactly the top stuff in its field)? Does the gayPhone app actually support other ports?

(I've made assumption that you only have 1 public IP, and cameras on their own NAT'd privates)

As far as I understand the router is ok, its a D-Link (Sky Broadband)

The ports are set manually and the little program (PC)that shows the cameras called "IP Camera Tool" shows them all ok no matter what ip or port i use.

I know the cameras i have bought aint pro kit or anything but they are only to replace RF cameras that I had linked to a slingbox, only use them to monitor my pooch while I'm out.

I don't have a static IP, but I am hoping I don't need one as I am trying to use the manufacturers DDNS service.

The inputs on the gayphone app are;

Camera Name

Camera Server which starts http:// (Says IP address or full qualified hostname)

Port (Default 80)

Username

Password

Private IPs for the cameras (the 192.168.x.x or 172.16.x.x or 10.x.x.x ones), the ports they are on, and a screenshot of the router's NAT setup for starters...

I have 6 cameras at home, none of which are IP cameras but I have used them in the past. My understanding is they all need seperate IP addresses otherwise they will conflict. If they are on your router then use that to port forward each cameras IP address to a seperate ports on your outside IP address.

Camera 1 set to an IP address native to your router such as 192.168.0.101:80

Camera 2 set to an IP address native to your router such as 192.168.0.102:80

Port Forward each IP address on your router to it's own port such as:-

Camera 1 to port 6001
Camera 2 to port 6002

They should be available seprately using your external IP address and port for example (made up IP addy):-

123.456.789.101:6001 and 123.456.789.101:6002 respectively.

Does that make sense?

That depends on the camera, but suspect you *may* have to set up a special hosted webpage somewhere. It *may* not even be possible.

192.168.1.2:81

Then set your router to port forward traffic on port80 to 192.168.1.1 and traffic on 81 to 192.168.1.2

Also making sure TCP is enabled on port 80 and 81 of your router

Then connectings coming into router will get redirected to the correct camera depending on which port its coming in on.

Surely you are......according to app on the iphone....that ip address would be the one of your router, the just change the port number on the app to view the diff camera.....unless im missing the obvious, which usually happens 

I agree with not having a static ip addy and ddns maybe the way forward......however if you never turn you router off, i would expect you to keep the same external ip addy  :-/

I expect you may be right but it may be a monthly lease on the ip address and i may find next month it all stops working, do you know what i mean?

I would cross that bridge when/if it did happen.....From my days in IT, iirc, a DHCP server tends to re-issue the same ip addy to the same mac addy if its online at the time of renew.

I think the issue is now resolved.

If the IP address changes, and the DDNS doesn't work that well, we can fix that other ways
