I'm curious as to why the mention of extreme weather has you hopping through time like a demented Gallifrean?

Extreme weather in the past can't possibly hurt us, its the here and now we should worry about.

and now, heres a picture of a dead elephant up a tree

"The animal is still stuck in the tree as we speak while wildlife officials work out the best way to get it down to conduct a post-mortem examination."

They are going to need all the money they can get to rebuild....yet they want to do a post mortem on it!!!!!!

Give me strength >:( ......and don't come here for the handout!!!!!!

I merely came across this recent article and thought it was relevant to this thread. Maybe I should have started a new thread. Actually, I wish I did. ::)

Why should we worry? The article reinforces the fact that extremes of weather have always affected the planet. We can't do anything about it other than attempt to reduce the impact of such events. We cannot control them.

As for the elephant, it may be sad, but lots of creatures die in naturally-caused events and died that way long before man appeared on the scene. It's called nature.  ::) ::)

you're right Nick, theres thousands of Aussies, Brazilians, Sri Lankans, Phillipinos not worried in the least - I'm alright Jack, eh - nothing to worry about, nothing we can do - jesus i'm surprised you get out of bed in the morning with that attitude, just shrug your shoulders, ignore the world...unless-god forbid, something happens that costs you so much as a penny and then the fur flies  :o

It would help if you actually read my post, in which I said we should attempt to reduce the impact of severe weather. That means building flood/tidal defences, improving buildings to withstand extremes, enhancing emergency procedures and so on.

I don't recall writing "I'm all right, Jack".

Oh, that's right, I didn't - it's yet another example of you putting words in my mouth. ::) ::) ::) ::)

sorry Nickbat, i forgot - you're a humanitarian who cares not a jot for ones own welfare.

i'm guessing tho, you'll kick off when food prices go up due to widespread flooding, not the flooding and devastation itself

my mistake  ;)

You can pick on me if you like Banjax. I really don't give a toss about anything. ;D

Well, maybe population explosion. I certainly wont be contributing any more and anything which reduces it in large chunks is OK by me. :y

1. My family
2. Myself
3. The rest

So, you accuse me of being totally uncaring about anyone but my family and myself, Banjax? Well, I do care about others.

However, the same cannot be justifiably claimed by  someone who thinks "mankind is just a virus". ::) ::)
