I quite liked Alan Johnson, although I really didn't understand why he got given the Shadow Chancellor brief. There were a few times when I think he wondered the same thing.  But he has gone, and now the front bench has shuffled to give Balls his number two fantasy job.  Should be some interesting exchanges ahead with Osborne and don't rule out a few little gems coming out regarding Balls' time when working in the Treasury.

Balls? A few little gems coming out? I hope not ;D

Steve STMO posted a picture of himself once on OOF. Not a pretty sight I have to say .....but he does look remarkably similar to  Ex-postie Alan Johnson.... :)

Yep, he is known as the son of Gordon. He was his right hand man when Gordon was wrecking the economy. A Brownite through and through, and Red Ed has just recently admitted that at least some of the damage was caused by their policies in Govt. Probably because it would take so much of his energy in the future to try to keep denying something which is quite easily demonstrated to be true. :y

Oh dear.  Oh deary deary dear.

Seems Alan Johnson has been doing a Prescott and been caught out.

And apparently, which individual has had his minions digging away at the rumour with the result it will soon be splashed in the papers?  Step forward... Ed Balls!

Ooooh, this could get very interesting over the next few days........

Bear with me please, i may have this wrong but from what i heard on the radio today he was given that job as he'd tried pretty much everything else & the only other option was the gaffers wife. He admitted he was'nt right for said post & could'nt answer the standard rate of N.I.??
Seems this is the end of his career in frontline politics.

I may have got it right first time then. Had to happen sometime. :D
If this is the case, its a Brownite coup, and Red Ed will be the next target, when the time is right. They dont want little Ed moving the party away from the policies which "were brilliantly succesful" for so long. ::)

While you are absolutely right Guy. Complete and utter incompetence alone doesnt usually spell the end of a political career nowadays. The Commons would be virtually empty if it did. ;) ;D

;D ;D ;D This is why i struggle to understand those with an avid love of politics. All this here here in a good response & moaning & groaning as a bad response it's out of the dark ages...& we rely on them? & some people actualy like politics.... ::) ::) ::) What a mess.

Reports suggest that Johnsons bodyguard has recently had an affair with Johnsons wife and has been suspended from duty.
Balls faction have leaked it to damage him and make his position untennable. This has allowed Balls to put Miliband in an impossible position, where he darent deny him the shadow chancellorship twice in a few months. It would almost certainly have resulted in a bloodbath.
This could very well turn out to be Blair/Brown mk2.
Heres hoping. :)

If I had a fiver for every MP who has resigned for personal/ family reasons........ ::)
Im not overly interested why he,s going. Just hope it does some more damage to his party. ;)

Well said Albs! Whilst I understand the need for an opposition to temper any government, I hope the labour party is ruined!
