It just struck me, did Vauxhall name the Omega after the last letter of the Greek alphabet because the Omega was to be the last rear wheel drive Vauxhall to be produced, or is it just a spooky coincidence :-/

Now that is deep BV! :o :o :D :D :D ;)

But in the meantime I have discovered that the Greek word Omega literally means "great O".  For me that solves it.  The Omega car is THE "great O" 8-) 8-) ;D ;D ;D ;)

Most women I speak to say the "great O" is something quite different to a car..

Technically not a Vauxhall, but they have the Griffin badge, Monaro & VXR8  :)
Not a Vauxhall then! The Omega was the last rwd Vauxhall. They will never make another before they go F*cked and 4wd or electric cars dont count 8-)
What about that little ugly plastic thing based on the Elise (vx ?) wasnt that RWD ? :-/

A little digging provides an answer...

Opel basically stole the name 'Omega' from the GM family car 'Oldsmobile Omega' produced during the 70's.

Yes, top film! But wasn't it Wil Smith in 'I Am Legend' who drove a Mustang? The same film re-made under the original book title... :y

Heston picks up a Mustang part way through the film - I can't remember what he was driving in the beginning, though.. I want to say a Merc, but I could be getting that confused with something else. Maybe it was a Charger/Challenger?
