Andy Murray
« on: 31 January 2011, 12:46:26 »

i was gutted yesterday when he got beat - but i'm very impressed with how hes handling the disappointment - easily one of the best players on the planet, he can beat anyone on his day - hopefully he'll win a slam one day but if not, as he says its not the end of the world  :y

And that I am afraid to say is the difference between British sportsmen and women, and those 'winners' of other countries like the USA and Russia.  To them not winning is like the end of the world, and that is what they play to avoid. ;)

i think to be fair to AM, he broke down in tears after last years final defeat to a guy he usually beats (Federer) - and I think he's making a conscious effort to chill a bit  :y

Yep, someone said once, 'Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser'

I didn't hold my breath this time either  :(

His game plan is all wrong - he tries to slug it out on the baseline all the time and doesn't go to the net often enough.

He says thats how he plays the game and he'll stick with it (stubborn so & so); that will work playing lesser class players but when he plays the class players (nadal/federer/djokovitch) more often than not he comes unstuck.

He has the skill and class to win a major but he needs to change his game plan.

For crying out loud, not this again.  The comment he made was a joke during some banter that the press latched onto and blew totally out of proportion, he and plenty of other people have tried to explain this so many times it's ridiculous.  Stop believing everything the papers tell you for heaven's sake.

Besides, he happens to be a Wolves supporter via his work with John Lloyd.  Explain how you can hate the English and follow an English footie club?
