Anyone else got a mystery "virus"?
« on: 03 February 2011, 18:44:35 »

I am a bit worried and a bit mystified as are the doctors by a virus that both my Mum and the Mother in Law have got (live 100 miles apart). Both are in their 80's. Coincidence? Both had their flu jab.  Edit - Both doctors specifically said it is not swine flu.

Symptoms. Vomiting bile (only),unable to get warm, feeling incredibly weak, constantly falling asleep, no appetite, only able to take boiled water.

Anyone know if there is a bug going around and if so what is it, how long does it last etc? Is it a mutant of swine flu?

It sounds like this years Flu... Swine flu ;) :(

Not fun... I had it last year. They need to seek medical help at that age though, just in case :y

older people mostly stay at home causing their immune system to weaken..visitors especially in those colder seasons can carry those viruses to them I'm afraid :-/

From what I have heard in the medical community at work that is this year's mega-flu.  It's a real kick in the gonads apparently and will knock down even the strongest.  It appears that how much it affects you may be down to genetics :-/

Exact symptoms as I had this week.

Came home from work at 10am Monday as I just couldn't carry on.  Took Tuesday off, back to work on Wednesday but really didn't want to.  I'm feeling ok now, ok enough to cram a beer down my throat anyway.

I'm a very fit and healthy 28yr old and it knocked me for 6.

Like I said earlier... I had it during the pandemic last year and it's not good.... You could have knocked on the door to deliver the largest Euromillions jackpot to me and I'd have told you to leave it on the doorstep :o :o
