I saw that on the news ... and was a tad confused ... then they showed it again .. and I now really and truly think "set-up".... my  reasons ...

1) Speed at which the "old lady" can run ?? ... don't know many "grannies" that fast !!

2) Time it took for the security shutters on the windows to start to lower ??- They should be lowered at the first hit of the sledgehammers

3) number of "robbers" doing not a lot ... only 2/3 are actually "involved" - but all are stood around

3) Just why was someone so "conveniently" just there to film it ??

:(

Don't you find the general public myself included are just unsure about getting involved. With the so called american culture of claim for free you just need to knock over the wrong person whilst giving chase and you find yourself in court being sued. :-[ :-[

there was a similar story about an 80 year old ex serviceman who foiled a raid on a jewellers - pulling off the balaclava of one of the sledgehammer toting gang.

i think the jewellers gave him a Rolex as a thank you  :y

If they had shoved the granny to the ground, or just kicked f**k out of her they would be slated by the press, 'coward gang beat old lady'. It shows they have (some) morals in not retaliating.

You are right of course Dave :D :y :y

I was just using the new sexless term like "manager" or "actor" in this world of equality.  But strictly speaking yes heroine is the accepted term ;) ;)
