Gary's son does indeed play the guitar, but as Gary had over 150 guitars, he wouldn't be short of an axe to play.
BTW, the '61 strat is also a special one, its rumoured to be one of Buddy Holly's, made by Fender as a "thankyou" present.
"Blues for greeny" was released as a tribute to Peter Green, and although it was in the 80s, it was a genuine "last tribute" cos PG was so poorly at that time, it was expected he might just pop his clogs!!
Luckily, he is still around, and has actually played some pretty good music recently, but in my humble opinion nowhere near the standard of earlier years.
There is a train of thought that suggests that in the industry there will be a tribute concert and some kind of bursary in his memory to G.I.T (guitarist's school) and also Eric Clapton is rumoured to be arranging some kind of memorial.
Maybe somebody can find something in the music industry press that will confirm this??? (NME/Guitar Player etc etc) 8-)
