What a pain in the ring day this has been...
« on: 10 February 2011, 20:32:32 »

Alarm for t'other half failed and she slept in a tad.

My day off, looking forward to a late awake - didn't happen.

Stubbed toes and tripped on the way to answer door to postie.

Dog puked on my shoes just as I was on the way to the vet with her.

Had to fuel the car with diesel (the Disco) as son had left it dry as a witches whatsit...

Stuck in a traffic jam on the way home from Vet.

Radio went FUBAR whilst in the queue...

Decided to get a nice cut of venison from a local deer farm to make a casserole for dinner and Disco decided to throw front Hardy Spicer joint to driveshaft whilst in the middle of single track farm road.

Got a bit of a scare with the driveshaft spinning about like a demented dervish before I stopped - glad it was less than 20 MPH and not on the bypass a short time earlier....

Managed to get the car onto a verge to allow the inevitable postie van to pass....   ::)

Called the AA for the first time in a long time.  Glad the lass at the call centre knew where Auchtermuchty was and found the farm access road on the map...

Waited a couple of hours before getting a text to say AA couldn't attend but a local recovery place would.

Waited another hour or so...

Meantime, walked upto the deer farm and got dinner - cash honesty box, no one present, take what you want and pay into cash box in the shed.  Must have been about £40 quid or so in the float...

Finally got recovered to the garage where I work.  Discovered driveshaft yolk is rubber ducked and needs replacing.  Scratch another £80 plus cost of the Hardy Spicer joint at £30 or so....

Got home 4 hours late and then cooked dinner.  Should have been a 3 - 4 hour slow cook to get it at its most tender.  ended up with a couple of hours on a higher heat.  Still tasty, just not as tender.

Now having a dram and at the keyboard.

At least no one died and its only one day out of many....   :)

Anyone any other tales of woe?

Could make that into a short story H! ::) ::)

My day's been OK actually... Back is quite painful again (reckon going back to work for those 3 shifts has put my recovery back about a month but will find out tomorrow) so took some painkillers this morning, looked out the door at the weather and decided I'd stay in so lit the fire and relaxed, watched a couple of films and surfed OOF :y

Oh... And made some enquiries about LPG tank discounts :y :y

one peugeout 406 driver tried to race with me >:(  :-X

no parking place in hospital need to wait a bit :(

nurse was amateur, hardly find blood flow, and ouch it hurts ;D

they gave me two big tanks to fill with urine and I'm shocked , probably they think I'm an elephant ;D (I brought them home to fill on sunday)

back to job, everyone wants something but I'm tired :(

on the way back to home, traffic jam but moves in cms so totally pi**** >:(

wife was having headache gone to sleep , so it was my duty to clean the cats mess >:(

Aside from City Link allegedly 'carding' me because I was out (despite my being in all day) and telling me I have a white front door (which I don't) .. it's been a decent day here.

(Oh and City Link did eventually turn up after I phoned them and suggested that perhaps they might be going to the wrong street..)

Apart from oversleeping this morning, my day has been pretty uneventful, though several chats wil Auto Addict today did break up the monotiny of server failures and office politics :)

Not as bad a Broocies but walk to train station at 10.30am and catch the train to Stockport then from Stockport to London Euston, then the stressful bit Underground from Euston to Kings Cross then Underground from Kings Cross to Liverpool Street station where I caught the train to Chelmsford. Got there at about 4 and left about 10 past 4 and then had a nice relaxing drive home :)

I know i should'nt post such things on the forum really, we can all watch them on youtube if we wish but i honestly think he's a better comedian than Chubby Brown etc.
I love the little bloke from down under, he just sums things up, hits the nail on the head & let's face it he's ffffffg funny.
