Right decision, even if it was safe it would be wrong to race there currently.

It just feels proper starting in Australia again anyway imo. :y

McLaren are probably the best pleased of the new teams. They desperately need some more mileage and test time before the 1st race so that they can develop and extract more performance out of the MP4-26 which is struggling currently.

Another test in Barcelona to be held 8 - 11th of March followed by perhaps another test too, due to the lack of a race weekend. Pirelli wants to test somewhere warmer as the temperatures so far haven't been reflected the conditions for them to operate in throughout the season.

No surprise at all at that decision as it is still a very volatile situation and Bahrain's political interests must come before any GP.

In fact the situation throughout the Middle East, and North Africa, must make any sport with worldwide coverage untenable.

 ;) ;)

Nobody can get there - the A43 looks more like the Somme.

interestingly Bernie refused to make a decision, leaving it to the Crown Prince because if they cancel they pay - i wonder how close BE would have let it go  :o

and now i'm thinking......Abu Dhabi GP - what happens if they dedcide they want free elections? Qatar world cup 2018 that no one wants? maybe its good the middle east and the west are re-evaluating their friends and priorities  :-?

Nah Bernie is the master in such situations.  The race was never going to go ahead in such circumstances.  He said it was up to Crown Prince so that it doesn't reflect badly on himself for any new venues.  It's much better for Bernie if he publicly states it's up to the event holders to decide rather than him for cancel a race outright.

Just politics.
