waste of packing
« on: 27 February 2011, 16:19:09 »

I recently ordered some IC's at work, most arrived but 2 were to be sent on later.

They arrived last week,

Yes, that's right, 2 small IC's in a long tube, vacuum packed, in a box, then inside another box with lots of further packaging. Its all going to waste, the boxes plus packing go into the skip.  Have they never heard of Jiffy Bags ?.

thats nothing, i've ordered some Fibre convertors for Netgear swtiches, they are about the size of your index finger. They came in a box that takes both arms to lift!  :o

Not joking, inside that were 4 boxes, each one just slightly smaller  :-?

Crazy, we ordered 6, when I was sent down to collect them, my boss thought I was pulling his leg when I said i needed an extra person....

Thats just stupid imo. The company I work for produces similar sized devices and has suitable containers/packaging for each size and type. A box that size would only be used to despatch hundreds at a time. ::)
