OK if came to it if one of us won the lottery that one of our purchases would be a garage and 4 post lift.

Most people I know think that is mad and you should pay someone else to work on it.

I'd do the same, although I'd get a 2-post rather than a drive-on ramp.. unless you can get 4-post that aren't drive on ramps (I haven't really looked).

In fact.. the plan is to get my current (single) extended into a double with pitched roof and 2-post lift by summer..

Ah I meant that aren't drive on .. erm.. I've no idea how to describe it Rather - a lift where the wheels are left to dangle as opposed to one where you lift the car with the wheels.

(I know some 4-post drive-on have jacking beams to lift the car off the ramp, though)

Ahh... Don't know of any 4 posters like that. I'd just have 2 jacking beams

I want my 2-post for a specific reason, though It'll make separating the body of a Cobra replica from the chassis very easy and a one person job... (because I have no friends  )

TBH, in most situations a 2 poster is more practical anyway

Very true - now all I have to do is figure out how to get enough headroom in the garage without upsetting the local planning department

(And still have a garage I can get two cars in - so a pitched roof with a lift in the middle is out of the question)

Why? The compromise would be that you needed to move a car out to work on the lift but would be workable

I'd like to use the garage as parking space as well as working space So it'd be good to be able to have one car parked in the 2-post area and one parked next to it, nearly keeping my cars out of the way of the local undesirables (this is Bracknell, after all) Although if I end up getting shot of the MR2 and Nissan for the Cobra, that only leaves the Omega - I don't mind that sitting outside so much.

Mind if I had enough headroom I could get three cars in there - one under the lift, one on the lift and one beside it.

I must be one of the few who have experienced getting all six main numbers on the Lottery. Unfortunately it was a Sun Bingo card many years ago and I eventually shared the jackpot with about 2500 others. On that particuar weekend the jackpot was £13.5m and if they'd shut the competition down on the Monday like they originally said they would there was only about 50 claims at that point. One week later when they eventually called a halt - and after everyone had trawled their rubbish bins - the winners share was down to £5k. Better than a poke in the eye but not exactly life changing.  I suppose that was probably my one chance at "the big one" but it doesn't stop me playing.
