..Ross Kemp

The Eastenders hardman has been the butt of a lot of jokes since he started out in his new life as a 'reporter', but in his latest programme,
Extreme World, he's shown himself as being truly brave, going to some places in the world where he is in real mortal danger. In last night's episode he was in Congo, and some of the stories he reported on were absolutely horrifying:
- A young girl of 14 with a young baby boy on her back, who had been brutally raped at 13, the baby being the result of the rape, and the rapist responsible for killing the rest of her entire family
- A surgeon who specialises in caring for the victims of rape describing how he'd treated a 3-year-old girl whose genitals and bladder had 'exploded' due to the barbaric nature of the rape
- A girl whose father had his eyes plucked out and ears cut off before being killed in front of her because he'd refused to rape his own daughter. She also had to watch as two men were cut in half lengthways with machetes
He then, in his quest to interview some of the militia men responsible for such barbaric acts, sat in a prison full of 1000 or so of these men, the only white, western man in the entire place. Then he travelled with an armoured UN escort to talk to other militia units, except the UN could only escort him so far, he was at least an hour away from safety when he went to interview workers at a mine far out in the lawless forests and jungles of the Congo
I have to hand it to him, I was astonished at the lengths he was willing to go to just for television, and astonished at the inhumane acts that human beings can inflict on other human beings in this modern world
