A 1972 edition of the Observer book of cars in my loft. It was given to me as a Christmas present when I was just twelve.

 The pages are marked with the cars I wanted to own when I became old enough to drive. They are as follows.....Jaguar E-type V12.......Lotus Elan Sprint........Triumph TR6......Ford Capri 3000E Mk1.......Gilbern Invader...Maserati Bora...and last and for some strange reason I can no longer recall an Austin 1300GT.

I still have my editions covering Butterflies, Larger British Moths, and Birds from 1963, 1964 and 1965   They are still relevant and provide fascinating information to this very day! 8-) 8-)

You were obviously going to take the engine and gearbox out and put it in an 850 cc mini!

The 1300GT went a bit too well for my liking. I nearly died in one. Mate was demonstrating how it would do 75mph in 3rd - downhill on a very wet road. Got to the bottom of the hill where the road started to go uphill and there was a big pool of standing water. Car aquaplaned and spun like a top the whole way up the hill, bouncing like a pinball between the trees on one side and a dry stone wall on the other.
When it came to rest, I was lying across the front seats and the driver wasnt in the car. I thought he was underneath it, but he had been thrown out when it started spinning and slid up the hill on his arse watching his car disintegrate in front of him.
When I kicked the door open he was stood outside the car, scared to look inside, as he assumed I was inside in a dismembered state. The only injury was the top of my ear was hanging off. There wasnt one panel on the car which was recogniseable.
