Nearly hit a child on scooter not looking.
« on: 07 March 2011, 23:29:00 »

On our estate.

Driving down the road, a chavvy looking chap runs across in front of us. I notice a young boy about 6 on a scooter travelling the same way (side road), going quite fast, not looking, goes straight out in front of me.

I managed to stop in time before hitting him (1 foot gap!), if I had been going a few mph faster I would have hit him, 5 mph faster he would have slammed into my wing.

I blew my horn - kid just carried on with no worries.

BLOODY IDIOT KID!

Sue didn't see the idiot until he was nearly squashed.

Shook me up for quite a while.

unfortunately there seems to be a growing trend of pedestrian awareness stupidity involving kids and young adults.

i live near a college and when i pass there the ''young adults'' cross the road really slowly knowing full well the travelling cars will have to slow down so as not to hit them. i think they think it makes them look cool and important  >:( >:( >:( >:(

That is the worst type of "experience" us drivers can face in my opinion Martin :o :o :o :o

Thank God for you, apart from the child, that you were driving carefully and attentive to the surroundings :y :y :y :y :y

It proves yet again the importance of 20 mph speed limits in built up areas which can save many a child 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;)

Got the same problem here.
There is a Secondary school just up the road, and the pupils go down to the shops, having to cross three roads on route, but the majority never check when crossing those roads >:( >:(
