Stoner kills dead things...
« on: 18 March 2011, 23:02:57 »

....then kills them again... and again.... Mmmnope not quite dead enough, lets have another go.

I love watching that guy ride when he's on song. Murderer on a bike, KILLIIIIIIIIIT.

....might explain his mood when he gets off the bike.  :-/

Oh, er motogp starts this weekend btw. Qatar night race. :y

Casey Stoner in practice on Eurosport earlier this evening for the Qatar motogp on Sunday.

He has a style that is admirably aggressive IMO. In fact it's very impressive, bit like John Daleys golf swing, absolutely flat out, no apparent restraint or control.

Power is nothing without control they say, they forgot to tell Casey Stoner.... And John Daily.

I can ride a bike, hit a golf ball, bowl a cricket ball, or what ever, with what I feel to be a great deal of aggression in the persuit of better performance, but there comes a point where all control is lost, and obviously performance suffers, usually, on a bike with catastrophic conseqences.

This guy, Stoner, just goes even faster the more angry he gets, ESP now Honda seem to have given him a bike to cope.

He has earned the phrase, "Casey,s killing dead things again" he's top of the timing sheets no one to beat, but still caning the living day lights out of it.

Love it. Talent doesn't always come with a smiley face for the tv cameras like Rossi.

Stoner wins, still my prediction.

Hats off to anyone who can ride even 9/10ths like that! Cripes.. I'd have soiled myself twice over if that was me. It'd be running down me leg and everything.

You remind me - the architect who came over last week (to design my new garage) turned out to be a bit of a petrol head - arrived in a rather nice MGB GT (his daily driver!), is considering building a bike engined Caterham with his son and .. is a biker.

He was telling me how fast he'd been down the back straight at the new Silverstone - 160mph.. I don't even have the balls to go that fast (on track) in a car, let alone trying to hang on to a pair of handlebars!  :o

I always knew you bikers were clinically certifiable .. ;D

The (lady) neuro consultant person who oversaw my nephew's protracted coma after stuffing his mum's Focus into a tree at about 50mph said she "relaxes" by running a Litre sports bike round Brands at weekends.  We asked her how she reconciled that with the cases she treats and she said if she loses it she wants it to be quick and clean (or words to that effect).

It takes all sorts.

On the Stoner front, his riding is spectacular to watch but he does drop it in the gravel rather too regularly (which is often nil points).  Sensible riders (yes I know  ;D) see that as going too far, which is why they are less spectacular generally.  Most physical sports are a balance between recklessness and getting the results, which is why younger people often excel over older ones.

I will watch the new season start with eagerness!

PS.  I've not seen above 140 indicated on my Triumph (yes, with both wheels on the road) and it did shake a bit.  160 is outside its design limits.

Approaching 160 odd down that straight is, in an abnormal way,... normal, if you see what I mean. ( ;D)

Wind it on in a purely progressive manner, no agression, holding station, no desire to compete with others and you will certainly top 150 without issue(old international circuit, I think we're talking the same section) as you will simply be riding to the conditions, to go slower would be unwise depending on the group your in.

It's quick, and you know it, but by no means does it feal like 160 on the road, so by those comparisons it's un fair to compare the two disciplins.

But take your "normal 160" mentality, add in a massive development budget, massive talent, massive balls, and a competitive spirit bordering on total paranoia and I guess the level becomes more clear. Then after that there's Pedrossa, who was also riding very well,Rossi, Spies, Lorenzo et al. Then there's Stoner, better? In terms of results, not yet. In terms of talent, now your asking the real question.

Anyone seen the film Tin Cup(think it's called)?
Last hole to win the tournament. All he has to do is lay up, then chip on to the green for a two put. No problem for him.... But no, the wind changes, and he thinks there's a chance he can get on the green in one, over water. No fun in laying up, where's the challenge in that? That's Casey it seems to me, there's nothing else, but him and the bike, or "the here and now" i think he called it in the film Tin Cup. What can I do right here right now? And let's go for it.

There every chance he'll win nout, but I don't want to see a bike rider "lay up" any more than the next guy. Although I would like to see him get the results he deserves... Which is a worry it has to be said.  :o

Looking forward to this season, more than previous years. Come on Casey.  :y

its true what you say about stoner he is exciting to watch...but then again so was kevin schwantz...till he realised he had to calm down and finish more races to win that elusive 500cc championship......and then there was doohan....well we all know what a god he was on 2 wheels... his championships speak volumes....

I still think that Rossi is the best there has ever been, and although Stoner has talent/ aggression etc. I think he is still several leagues below Rossi in every department, particularily in intelligence.

Well he is Australian.  ;D

I remember another Ausie, Mr Doohan, giving a laser stare to a reporter suggesting perhaps he should slow down when topping the leader board by over 1.5 seconds after his hooror crash that effectively ended his carear. "slow down?" you want a racer to slow down?

And nobody is questioning Rossi's status Albs  ::). But don't you find his cheesy camera smile annoying? Just a little? Love me love me, aren't I lovely. Bit too corporate for me.

Good start for Cal btw.  :y

The smile etc is undoubetdly a part of his brilliant PR skills, part of waht has made him a global superstar, as I sais, he aint daft.
Its probably easy for him to smile on cue, he,s Italian. Happy smiley seems to be their default setting.
I would still rather see that (even if a tad contrived ) than Stoner in whinging mode though. ;)..........Not putting Stoner down, hes a big talent. Just not that keen on him as a charcater tbh.And I still think he has a lot to learn about keeping his arse on the saddle - too many crashes throughout his whole career, and no sign of it changing. Suggests a fundamental problem in his head to me.

Not right in the head? Have you seen what these guys do for I living?

To me Stoners Duckerdy days are a little miss leading, there was massive frustration going on, fighting the bike like nobody else could, and back at the garage he was mightily hacked off. Plus theres an element of fight or flight going on, scared  basically. And I don't blame him.

For any normal pearson to be able to turn and smile at the camera like a fluffy toy in that situation, well, who's the biggest nutter?

As said, it's not a smiling competition Albs. Points are all that matters.
