The World At War - Against Gaddafi
« on: 19 March 2011, 16:32:33 »

Well the UN countries, including the Arab League, which was crucial, have decided to act militarily against Gaddafi.

With this time full legal, and moral, backing the French have their aircraft now patrolling above Libya, with British, Canadian, and Arab countries aircraft coming into play very soon.

The USA are, wisely, taking a bit of a back seat, and the Germans, along with the Italians (very understandably!!), will not be participating with their aircraft, but the latter will provide bases for the UN forces to use.

The great thing is that they are going in above ground to assist the Libyan people who have requested International help, along with the Arab League, so it is not the evil West trying to dictate what happens in an Arab country, but Allies supporting Arabs to gain democracy and freedom in their own country :y :y :y :y

My only concern is that I do not know historically of any war that has been settled by air power alone.  However, the UN forces are going in with a "no boots on the ground policy".  I hope the Libyan people can do the rest! 8-) 8-) 8-)

I wish them well!  Allah be with them!

No. that thread was War by the Weekend.

This one is about War that has started today, during the week-end, after full international agreement that took place today after Gaddifi has broken a cease-fire today.

Different story.

Is there some sort of Geneva Convention or U.N treaty that dictates we have to police the world? I know this mad dog should'nt be allowed to kill his own innocent people but we're hardly in a position to help. Our armed forces are facing cutbacks whilst already stretched to breaking point & losing lives sorting out other countries messes, we're in a proper 2 & 8 financially & politically with a government headed by two saps who don't have a backbone between them & hate eachother (bet they do really) & it seems we're off to lose more money & lives.

I know my comments are based on very little knowledge so be gentle with me please but it just does'nt seem to add up somehow. Guy. :-/
