If I lived in nice hot sunny country it would be the bike everytime as you can't beat the rush.  ;D  8-)

That said in grotty weather UK it has to be the car.  :'( :(

against:

you have to get up earlier to don the gimp suit and helmet.

you rely and pray for dry weather.

if you're overweight you look ridiculous on a bike (i know you think you don't, but you do)

bikes are quicker but are still subject to the same speed restrictions as the rest of us ( i know you're going through the village at 30mph.........but what was the 4 rapid down shifts everyone heard coming up to the "30" sign  ;D ;D)

helmet hair - if you have any.

most car drivers dont think about bikes, if a car hits you - you're dead, the driver pulling out on his mobile is merely wondering what the noise was.

for:

err....you can leapfrog queues

oh....and you're bravely volunteering to donate organs for the rest of us - top work  :y

hopefully anything inside the skid lid will be useable, plus theres a new romper suit that inflates quickly to protect your vital organs, so as your head bounces off through the hedge/under the truck/whatever we can still harvest what we need without using a spatula  :y

you have to get up earlier to don the gimp suit and helmet.

Takes me no longer to put on gortex trousers & a jacket than Jeans & t-shirt.

you rely and pray for dry weather.

I took my test on my bike in the winter, it was -7, there was snow on the ground. Gortex clothing also keeps you dry.

I'm not overweight.

So why do you have a Legacy "Sport" - Why not get a 3 cylinder VW Fox? they do 70mph which is legal limit.

I'm a bloke, do I care what my hair looks like?

Riding a bike makes you a better car driver, you are aware more, look out for pot holes, man hole covers, road conditions.

Everyone has their passions, mother T used to keep horses, they could do 30mph, weigh 2 ton, and can refuse to stop if the want to. Being thrown from a horse can also kill you....

Entirely depends on the reason you need transport - business, travel to work, family transportation, pleasure etc.
I can see the attraction of bikes for many people but personally I've never felt safe on them so 4 wheels for me everytime. :y
