Clearing out the attic today. Ten years of stuff needed sorting.

SWMBO said lets give the books to charity. Hmmmm, thought I. Grabbed one and searched on ebay

Have you got a signed Darwin: Origin of the Species 1st edition in that lot too?

sell em on Ebay and you will have enough to fuel the Omega next month. :y

my x has the first edition of great expectations. 1874 i think the date was. it was her great nans  fathers book. she also has both of there stamp collection books full up with hundreds of stamps. amazing stuff.

it will give you a range of prices from dealers worldwide.

don't forget, tho, that these prices, (and in the listing above) are *asking* prices NOT selling prices.

it's only worth a grand if you find a buyer...

other dealers are asking 500-750 for the NEL 1st.
depends A LOT on condition tho

oh, and the great expectations "1st" from 1874 is only a first from that version - not the original which was published in a newspaper in 1860 (and a full set of those are worth MILLIONS). first book edition was 1863.

your x's *might* be worth  twenty quid  :y

excellent find!! my grandmother (who just turned 101!!!!!) has a load of irish silver which keeps turning up on antiques roadshow which is (by them ) at 5000 pounds plus! all just ornaments passed down generation to generation and eventually found it's way to N.Z!
