this news is not only shocking and saddening it also confirms my suspicions about the intelligence of the citizens in the UK..........

....7.1 million watch Midsomer Murders  :o

i'm just curious as to what they wouldn't watch if they think MM is 2 hours well spent  ;)

You're clearly never at home during the day; some of the crap that's on then is so shocking it makes MM look like the ultimate in intellectual culture. Diagnosis Murder or Murder She Wrote for instance.
Some of it's quite impressive though; Deal or No Deal has convinced the braindead that opening 20 boxes in a row is a game of strategy, or that proving that you're a brainless, talentless, moral vaccuum on Jeremy Kyle is something to aspire to!

Sorry, rant off now.

Midsomer Murders is filmed around here. It is a rural area, where, in the villages, you need one hell of a bank balance to purchase a property. Most of the filming is around Henley, Hurley, Hambledon, Great Missenden.
Whether you like it or not, there are very very few people of non white races that live in these areas. The series is set in these villages and snobsville reigns. Even Richard Hammond moved away not long after buying a house in Penn because, he stated... ' people are snobby and not friendly here'. ;D
I live on a modern estate comprising of over 1000 houses/maisonettes/bungalows, trapped between three villages and I can honestly say that on this estate I only know of three non white families that live here. Three miles away in town, then the situation changes dramatically. ;)
So if MM is filmed as a series in rural snotsville, why the uproar :y

What!! :o :o :o :o  There are still people around those parts who have not been murdered!! :o :o :o

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

As for the 'race' issue; how many years has this series been running?  No one raised anything all the time "Tom Barnaby" was the lead character, but now with a new lead, albeit another "Barnaby", we have accusations of racism, after the other day people complaining it was going to become far more "racy/sexy"!!  Give me strength.  With all the issues this world is currently facing!!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

It did not do John Nettles a lot of good either. ;D ;D Poor chap must have been quite affected by all the blood and guts, because, during the filming, he rented a cottage up the road and when he vacated, he left a legacy of empty booze containers etc, etc for someone else to clear up. :y ;D ;D
I know this cuz I was working next door :y
