Reply #44 where a half-hearted admission of a mistake was made. Should "Millwall" and "RobG" have their postcounts re-instated :D

I have voted yes , they should get there post count back. I have found RobG to allways be a gentleman. I cannot really say I have really spoken to Millwall but he has never come accross as offensive in anything I have seen written by him.

I have not read all of the thread in question. I am currently trying to avoid all conflict for personal reasons.

Hope you get them back chaps  :)

RobG is one of the most knowledgable and helpful people on the forum, people who are genuinely new to the site are looking to the experienced oofer's for help and may not think another newbie knows any more than they do

I have voted "YES" as the two are great members on here and always contribute very positively. :y :y :y

On the thread in question there was some provocation, but it all turned into a humerous exchange of banter 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-).

Thank you Lizzie and Henry. :) As said, the "banter" in the main was never intended to be construed as offensive or malicious

I've voted "yes" - not specifically because because I think that RobG and Millwall didn't deserve their post counts to be docked, but for the same reason henryd gives.

The postcount serves a  gauge as to a member's experience of omegas, which is useful to a newbie who doesn't know one member from another.
It also helps (as I stated on another thread) to know whether an "argument" is light hearted banter between two long standing members/friends or something perhaps more serious.

The "punishment" of having postcount docked is only a punishment if the member in question wants to sell something - otherwise it serves no purpose other than to inconvenience *other* members of the forum.

having said all the above, this forum is NOT a democracy - it's a dictatorship (possibly a theocracy  :) ) - and we all (should) know the rules

I wasn't going to post on this topic but will anyway...

I was following (sort of) the thread in question and it did end up a bit like a school yard, with name calling and what could be termed offensive emoticons used. Exactly what H21 has penalised the 3 members for as it is not in the spirit of OOF. ;)

That said, EMU was deliberately pulling the strings to wind people up and it all got out of hand ::) I've been in this position on here before with certain members deliberately pulling the right strings so I just stopped answering them in threads. ;)

I'm sure the Admin team will discuss the situation and make a decision with the best for the forum in mind :y

At the end of the day people, the Admin team are the ones who provide this site and have a set of "rules" or Guidelines which they try to uphold. You did something in contravention to those guidelines and have been punished in the only way possible (other than a Banning) so have to accept that. I expect it will be a temporary cull on your postcounts but would suggest that you take it on the chin and move on ;)

Oh... And I actually thought it was the fairest solution... A banning would have been a bit OTT but something had to be done as this is, after all, a very friendly, family establishment :y

This is a thoughtful post, and I agree with the opinion expressed. It is useful to us lesser mortals to check post-counts and use it as one way to help assess whether the poster is an experienced OOF member, and therefore probably, if not necessarily, likely to offer useful advice. Of course, after a while, it is possible to glean this information by reading threads, and getting to know names of the experienced members, but that only works if everyone keeps the same name, which not all do! :y
